Blogging: The Year in Review
Carrie, at Mommybrain, found this on another blog that she reads, and so on…
I like the idea too, so here it is:
You copy the first sentence of the first post of each month from the past year (or more than one sentence if you feel the need to give a bit more context).
August 31, my first post ever

Kim, Thank you for turning on the Anonymous comments! I wanted to comment on your vaccine entry. Just to say that I remember one of my early pregnancy bloodwork tests showed that my immunity to Rubella was quite low. With the next pregnancy, it was high again!! And this without any new immunization! Very unpredictable. Also, I insisted on the dead polio vaccine for one of my girls. I started immunizations late and would stagger them so they wouldn’t get 5 at one time. (A young mother just told me that her son had FIVE in one day!) Well, my little girl got sick about a week later. It was 3 weeks before I realized that this little girl who had just started walking around the furniture before the shot, wasn’t walking anymore! She did recover, and she wasn’t flat–out–horribly–sick. Which is probably why I was slow in realizing that this was a reaction to the immunization. Without thinking, I allowed the DTaP a couple of months later and she had a hot red swollen leg from top of her thigh to her knee and whimpered all day—on Thanksgiving. No more shots for her! And no more for the next 3.
I’ve enjoyed visiting your blog and am glad for the chance to say–HELLO!
Jennifer–mom to 7
Jennifer,
Hi! Thank you for visiting and commenting.
Your story about your daughter’s reaction is another reason I don’t trust the statistics on reactions to vaccinations: only reactions reported within 7 days are considered to be connected to the shots. Your daughter’s reaction would never make it into the official stats.
How many other children experience moderate or severe reactions that are not reported or recognized until more than a week later?
LOL–I don’t think I’ve ever been called “another blogger” before, but thanks for the link (which is how I found your blog).
Love the whole Christmas tree thing! I don’t think I could talk my husband into it, though…
