How long can you hold your breath?
Me: 2 minutes. Really. And it’s a very useful skill.
It’s a little early to declare the high point of the day, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be topping this accomplishment:
Can you see it? Can you believe it? I painted my own toenails. Yes, I had to hold my breath to do it.
Is it just me, or do those freshly painted toenails look really far away? And can you see the hulking belly in the foreground? I had to go outside to take the picture because the flash was ricocheting off my belly and utterly confusing the camera. The camera couldn’t figure out why the silly operator would want to focus on the tiny faraway details when such a grand and glorious photo subject was so close at hand. Left to the judgement of the camera, my toes became dark blurry little silhouettes in the distance, while my belly glowed with supernatural intensity.
You loved it, right? Here's more like it:

Have you ever gotten desperate enough to ask your husband to paint your toenails? I did. With my first pregnancy. Ten years ago. Yeah, he didn’t see the need to stroke the polish in the same direction. Top-to-bottom/ side-to-side- no matter. The object is to get the paint on, right? Let’s just say I’ve never again asked him to “serve” me in that way…
I think those are the prettiest toes I have ever seen

Mrs. Wilkerson — I don’t think she has ever asked me to paint her toe nails…. However being the son of a house painter I am well aware of the need to have the brush strokes go in the same direction.
Ha! I always say, it’s good to have certain life skills…!!
Oh, you are talented.
I’m so relieved to know that the homeschooling mother of soon-to-be-eight still has/makes the time to paint her toenails…and blog about it!!
You can hold your breath for 2 minutes? I’d probably suffocate and die if I tried to hold mine for more than 1 minute!
I love painting my toe nails when sandal weather rolls around too. Feet are such ugly things, I do whatever I can to pretty them up.
Wow, that is quite the accomplishement! I can hardly even get my toenails CLIPPED when I’m expecting a baby.
With my second baby I gained so much weight, mostly water weight, that I couldn’t paint my own toenails. I told the ob at my 36 wk checkup to take one last glimpse of my smooth legs because I was unable to shave them anymore! Glad to have found your site!
I’m not sure it will happen again in the next 7 weeks.
I have hired the children on occasion to take off the old polish (they get a big thrill out of 25 cent pedicures), so maybe I’ll get desparate and hire one of them to paint my toes for me.
Hubby would probably do it for me, but I think I’d be giggling too much to hold still and let him do a good job. Anyways, he would tickle me. On purpose. I trust him with anything but my feet.
