New poll on labor!

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

I’ve mentioned that I nearly always start labor on a Thursday (but not the Thursday before my duedate), and I think I know why:
Thursday is my “safe” day: it’s close enough to the weekend that I know I can have Hubby home for at least 3 days.
What about you? On what days have you started labor in the past? Do you have any idea why?
I’ve set up a new poll on the sidebar. Please vote to represent each full term uninduced labor. You can choose more than one answer, but I couldn’t make it let you vote more than once/day. If you started labor more than once on the same day (like I did!) you’ll have to come back and vote another day to represent that child.

    I went into labor on a Monday and gave birth about 24 hours later at noon on Tuesday.

    I don’t have no idea why, but I was nearly 3 weeks over due. My mother was going crazy, she kept thinking the baby would never come. For some reason I just knew I would go over but never thought it would be so long.

    The poll would only let me vote once! I went into labor twice on Tuesday and once on Friday. My first was induced on a Monday…

    For some reason my body prefers to labor on Sunday. Maybe I am a rebel after all (six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work). It really is not that convenient, maybe it just takes me that far into the weekend and having my husband home for me to relax. For three of our six non-induced babies the labor started and they were born on a Sunday. I’m due with our eighth in August, so we’ll see how that one goes.

    Because it’d take a week to put these votes in: 4 on Monday, one induced on Wednesday. Also, several attempts to induce that never worked on other days.

    Mine were Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. I have no idea why, I just know that I was extremely ready every time! :) It will be interesting to see if you go into labor next Thursday (one thing that’s nice about that is you don’t have to think about it the first part of the week, just expecting you wont start until Thursday, unless of course you don’t start on thurs, then that’s a real bummer! :)

    I started labor with Steven on a Mon. but very late he was born on a Tue. Brandon’s labor started on Sun. and he was born Sun. Nathan’s labor started on Sat (1/1/00) early morning before sunrise and was born on Sun morning. Andrew was induced by a doctor at the hospital on a Fri. and he was born 52mins later. Marshall was induced sort of by the midwife with herb on a Thur. and he was born on a Fri. and Katie’s labor started early on Mon. morning and she was born in the morning on a Wed. (1:06AM). My thinking has always been that I knew Cedric would be home and wouldn’t miss work. No explination for Steven or Katie.

    I’ve started labor only twice on the same day of the week. The 2nd time though it took forever (baby in a weird position), so she wasn’t born till late the next night. All 5 of my children have been born on different days of the week. Only Tuesday and Wednesday are untouched. LOL

    Well, I didn’t have a consistent pattern that I could count on, so I had to look it up!

    I’ve bounced around the days that labor started:
    Two on Mondays
    Two on Tuesdays
    One on a Wednesday
    Two on Thursdays

    But in almost all of the cases (with the exception of #7, whom I induced with castor oil in the afternoon), every time I went into labor, it was in the middle of the night/early morning. I knew each morning that if I wasn’t in labor when I woke up, it wasn’t d-day.

    #1 – Thurs
    #2 – Sun
    #3 – Thurs
    #4 – Sat
    #5 – Thurs
    #6 – Mon (C-sec)
    #7 – ???

    Anyone ELSE see a pattern here? LOL

  10. Regina adds her thoughts::

    The day of the week isn’t consistent for me (1 Monday,
    1 Tuesday, 1 Thursday), but the time of day is. All three started at 3:00 in the morning! Maybe it’s finally relaxing at night.

    Katie,
    Yours look very much like mine: I have gone into labor 5 times on a Thursday, and once each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All of mine have basically been weekend babies. The one that started on Sunday was born on Monday, but it was a 3 day weekend: Memorial Day.
    The poll results so far seem to lean toward weekends as well.

  12. melissaknits adds her thoughts::

    The first time I went into very early labor during a Sunday afternoon high-pressure “safety seminar”/ sales presentation of a very unnecessary infant feeding table. I was terrified by these images of strangled infants. Yes, there were pictures. We bought the table, and the baby came 16 or so hours later, on Monday morning.

    The second time I went into labor one day before the date I said I was due, and ten days before the midwives insisted I was due (I win, I win!!). It was also the last day of on-call for my favorite midwife. It was Monday again; the baby was born just before noon.

  13. Pascale adds her thoughts::

    My first labour started on Good Friday and ds was born on Saturday morning.

    Dd was born (within 2 hours) on a Thursday.

    So maybe #3 will be born on a Wednesday?;) I haven’t had many baibes yet, so there doesn’t seem to be any pattern!

  14. Kris Mays adds her thoughts::

    I have gone into labor and had a child on each of the following days:

    Mon, Tues, Wed. & Thurs.

    Here’s hoping number 5 arrives on a Friday so I can keep the trend going.
