The tip of the hat isn’t so much for the football but for some well placed comments on his blog about the recent SBC resolution to abstain from alcohol.

Brother G. says

“So, just to make sure I’m clear. Indoctrination of your children in a
godless institution from sun up till sun down (contra Dt. 6:4-9) where
Christ is
displaced from the center of all things (contra Colossians
1:13-20) is okay. But
for the love of all things teetotalitarian, stay away
from beer!”

This is exactly what has bothered me about the resolution since I first heard about it.

A second tip of the hat to Garfield for pointing out the post Reduction ad Absurdum which aptly illustrates (imnsho) why the logic in the SBC resolution doesn’t work.

Remember the abuse of a thing or activity doesn’t make it sinful…only God decrees sin and righteousness.
