My friend Maggie at Cappuccino Life tagged me for the 5 Things Meme. Thanks, Maggie!
I took the liberty of creating separate lists for purse and diaper bag, since they are very separate entities in our house.
5 things in my freezer
- freezer pops
- homemade frappuccinos to go
- 7 gallons of milk
- chocolate chips, also known as math pills or potty candy
- 3 pints and 1 quart of Hagen Daaz ice cream
5 things in my closet
- the birthday box, full of deals on items that were too good to pass up but I didn’t really need to buy just yet
- clothes, of course, and too many shoes
- games that the kids have to get permission to play – not to be confused with the games missing all their pieces. Those games live in the kids’ closets.
- wood trim for when I someday finish building my built-in bookcase in the living room
- 32 lbs. of boneless skinless chicken breast. Wait, that’s in my freezer.
- 30 gift bags and all the accompanying tissue paper, just waiting to be stuffed with gifts from the birthday box. Does anyone want to invite us to a birthday party? We could *be* the whole party.
5 things in our van
- diaper bag – I hope
- ice chest, always!
- carseats
- caliche
- swim bag – full of swimsuits for Sunday afternoon fellowships at the pastor’s house.
5 things in my purse
- bandaids and triple antibiotic
- swiss army knife
- tiny bottle of minty breath freshener for carsick kids
- scissors
- chunk vinyl tile from my kitchen floor for matching paint, accessories, counter tile, etc.
5 things in my diaper bag
- size 1 diapers
- size 3 diapers
- change of clothes for baby and toddler
- receiving blanket for nursing, etc.
- plastic shopping bags for wet/dirty clothes or dirty diaper where there is no trash can
5 people I tag
- my real-life friend Michelle
- my real-life friend Steph
- my real-life friend Tog-mom
- my real-life friends, the Horn family (I know, no diaper bag!)
- my real-life mom-in-law (no diaper bag, but what’s in that other bag you always carry with you?)

I just saw this ice cream documentary on PBS, and learned that the man who started Haagen Daaz (sp?) made these words up. Pretty funny. And, I *used to* store gift bags and tissue paper until my hubby got fed up and threw out the whole lot. I do feel de-cluttered now. But we had to stop on the way to our most recent wedding for -ahem- tissue paper and tape.
We made a bunch of fabric drawstring gift bags. They take a lot less room to store and no tissue is needed.
Hey Kim, I posted my Meme. Come take a look.
Hi, I’ve been readin and enjoying your blog for sometime now but have been mostly a “lurker”. I love reading what you blog about. It is so down to earth and so real and always makes me smile
) Anywho, how do you make the “homemade Frappucinos to go” that are in your freezer? This sounds yummy and like something I need to be doing!
Thanks~Caroline
chicken in your closet–ha!
My sis-in-law stores gift bags under her mattress. They take up no room, and they stay nice and flat. I aspire to do that someday, but just haven’t gotten around to moving mine.
Caroline, look here for my frappucino.
Thanks Kim, I can’t wait to fill my freezer full of these!
