We are in Tennessee

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

We are in Tennessee so far it has been kind of boring (except for the fact that we are allowed in GRANDMA’S FRIDGE when ever we want) first we went to grandma and grandpa’s school then we went to there house, after that the rehearsal dinner and today we are going to my aunt Michelle’s wedding oh did I forget to mention that she was getting married?

Rehearsal dinner

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

The rehearsal and dinner went well. The twin flower girls are precious, and the evening was topped off by supremely sappy toasts, just the way such an event should be.
My grandparents made it safely into town from nearly 2,000 miles away. They drove. I want to be that young when I have 23 great-grandchildren!
I just have one question for Daring Young Mom: Do you actually live in the Nashville area, and does your real first name start with S?
I’m pretty sure I met you tonight, and you did a great job on the food for the rehearsal dinner. Don’t worry – your secret identity is safe with me. After all, I managed not to call you by your screen name while we chatted tonight, though I’m afraid I may have grinned idiotically a few times. Lack of sleep and celebrities in disguise will do that to you.
BTW, your husband has a lot more hair than I expected from the pictures.

Did you miss me yet?

How do you know you’re tired?
Picture this:
You’re in the last 15 minutes of a 15 hour drive, and your husband turns to you to ask where his glasses. He doesn’t remember where he put them, and you ask if he thinks he might have left them at the last stop.
While you are both thinking and hypothesizing about where his glasses could be, one of you (I’d rather not mention who) finally realizes that he’s wearing them.
Yes, we made it to Tennessee. And yes, I’m blogging rather than sleeping. It’s the mark of a true addict. If there’s a 12 step program for this, don’t tell me.

Moms for Modesty

I’m ashamed to be so late in jumping on this bandwagon, but maybe (maybe?) I’m not the last one in the blog world.
Jules of Everyday Mommy has started a campaign to encourage retailers to offer modest clothing for our daughters, rather than encouraging them to dress like 7 year old women of ill repute, which is how most of the popular styles look to me.
She calls it Moms for Modesty.
Great idea, Jules, and I love the incredible response you’ve received! Anyone who hasn’t already signed their names to the comments section please go do it right below my own. That way no one will know that I was the last one to join.
Oh, the shame!

It worked!

It’s a small thing, but now I will be able to rest easy in Tennessee knowing that my freezer is closed!
Remember this? No more freezer witnesses in our house, and no worrying that the freezer door will pop open spontaneously while we are gone.
I took Lisa’s advice and shimmed up the front of the freezer. It wasn’t actually leaning forward and now it leans very slightly back, but you should see that door go into free fall when we let go! It makes me want to spike a frozen turkey and do the NFL victory dance!
But I suppose this is the end of an era. Why? Because who do you think is the #1 result when you do a Google search on freezer witness? Yup.
BTW, did you notice I was in labor when I originally posted that tip? Memories…

WFMW: my best tip

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

Shannon is asking for our best-and-favoritest-ever WFMW tip that we’ve ever posted. Well, she said “classic” but I’m pretty sure she meant best-and-favoritest-ever.
I’m going with the old Emergency Diapers in the Carseat trick. This is where I cram 2 diapers and small packet of wipes down into the crevice between my baby/toddler’s carseat and the carseat liner. There’s plenty of room – I actually keep a diaper for the toddler in the infant seat as well.
That way, if I remember to bring the baby I automatically have at least 1 or 2 diapers with me too.
If I forget the baby, then whoever ends up with him will have a diaper. It’s a win-win situation.

Carnival of Kid Comedy #25

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

So, how is the Tuesday carnival working out for y’all? I’m loving it, especially since Daring Young Mom is being a slacker on her fabulous Tip Tuesday event, and she can’t help being funny when she posts about kids. Every post of hers could be in the carnival.
Here are the rest of the qualifiers:

  1. Robin’s little guy is Jealous of Daddy.
  2. Kelli says I guess he told me.
  3. NerdMom brings us Nerd Family: The Art of Language.
  4. Rocket presents Oh Great Mouth posted at The Rocketman’s Change For A Dollar.
  5. Jack Yoest presents The FireDrill: Practice Success to Avoid Failure- one small caution: there is a PG rated word here. Sailors. tsk.
  6. Carrie shares Chemistry and Biology from World’s Greatest Place to Live INSIDER
  7. Over at Bruggie Tales, the smiles never stop:

  8. And if you missed it the first time ’round, you might enjoy the Sisterly Love that abounds in the Shoe.

Thanks for stopping by. Y’all come back now, hear?

Tennessee, anyone?

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

Is there anyone in the Franklin, Tennessee area who would like to mirl for a mocha next week?
My sister is getting married (that will make 6 of us married) so most of the family will be dropping in on the state of Tennessee for a week. Just a quick little 15 hour jaunt, you know. Our household of 10, my parents with their 7 youngest children, 3 of our adult sibs with a brother-in-law or two and a baby, a couple of fifteen passenger vans and a Suburban all filled to the brim…
:)
So, who wants to mirl?

My secret project

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

Yes, my secret project is an e-book! At least, I intend for it to be an e-book. It has grown as I work to the point where I am tempted to look into printing…how long is too long for an e-book?
And though hubby and I were both tickled at Cindee’s and Beth’s guesses that I might be writing about chocolate, I’m afraid I’ve chosen my other area of expertise ;)
Chocolate will have to be the topic of my next book.
Can anyone guess what this one is about? No, not coffee. Try again.

What’s new today?
