In which I whine
I’ve been sick this week. Well, as sick as I ever get, which is just enough to make me whiny and lazy, giving me two choices:
1. Go about my regular duties, feeling very whiny about not getting to take a day off when I’m sick.
2. Take a day off my regular duties, lie about all day, and feel like a big phony because I actually feel pretty good when I’m off my feet.
I keep reminding myself of how thankful I am I ought to be I am that I don’t get misably ill and watch helplessly while the house falls apart around me, but it’s really easy to forget the thankful thoughts when I really just feel like whining.
On the bright side, I feel better today. And only one child has thrown up today, so they must be getting better too.

Yes, the days of sick leave- paid or unpaid, are over…until all are grown up. You are not a phony for feeling alright when you lay down. It’s because you are resting…something a Mom of 8 mainly has to wait until heaven to do:)

Taking time out when one is feeling a little off colour - is a way also of time for spiritual reflection.
5-10 minutes sitting or retire to bed with a prayer or poem to mind -is something that I find therapeutic.
May you be strengthened in the love of your family and in God.
Blessings from Scotland.
