Budding young writers
You have got to read the story that our 13yo Deanna and 11yo Kaitlyn are collaborating on. This is not just motherly pride speaking - at least, I don't think so. These girls are good and have obviously been reading way too many adventure novels lately.
The prologue is on Deanna's blog, and they intend to post the first chapter on Kaitlyn's blog tomorrow.
Just read the opening lines:
Christopher was running, gasping and half-crazed with fear. He fell to the ground, tripped by a plank in the road and lay there without the will or the strength to get up, as fear and sorrow leeched them both away.
Take a look at the rest of the prologue (did you ever write a story with a prologue? I thought not.) and tell them what you think. Then come back and tell me what you think of homeschooling.

WOW! You should be proud Kim!
That is great! I remember dreaming up stories like that when I was a little girl, if I only had the time now
I am captivated by the story – and eager to find out more – so will be tuned in!!!
Please convey my good wishes to the girls and indeed to your home schooling achievements – you are all worthy of praise.
Well done.
Every good wishes from Scotland.
Great! Good luck to the girls.
That’s wonderful! I love how it plunges right in.
My children also have been reading and writing adventure stories, although they seem to have inherited my skill at starting something and then abandoning it in favor of a new project.

I thought that both you and your children would love the following:
Perfect Day sung by Miriam Stockley.
It is the theme music for Beatrix Potter Tales.
You can listen to the music here:

Here are the lyrics to sing along too:
“The rain has moved on
And left a new day
Nothing seems to move everything is still
It?s just a perfect day
The shadows and light
That move with the wind
Hidden violets grow splashed with summer spray
Just another perfect day
Bridge:
On the wild and misty hillside
Fear is nature?s warning
Hunger here is never far away
Instrumental
Bridge
And all of this world
Is for children who play
Days that never end always should remain
Another perfect day”
I do hope they all enjoy this beautiful song and perhaps even create a poem or a short story?
Every good wishes and blessings to you all.
Wow! I wish I could write that well!
I am not a homeschooler or much of a parent at the moment, but I am a writer. You should look into NanoWriMo for your children. http://www.nanowrimo.org/
It’s a chance for your children to connect with other writers and gives them a task for November.
