The gerbil/washer connection

I mentioned that we came home to a broken washer. My brother-in-law confessed to having shut the cuff of his pants in the front-loading door and leaving it all night. With a front loader, that will keep it from starting up and we thought it may have burned out a door sensor. He has been apologizing and dreading the repairman’s visit ever since.
The repairman came today and had no trouble finding the problem. He said that small critters had been chewing things (things with expensive electronic titles like Control Board).
You may recall that in a startling coincidence, I came home to find a smelly gerbil carcass - guess where? - under the washer. Near a pile of shredded paper. And a broken $300 control board.

So…how’s your day?

  1. My day? Well, wonderful…. I’ve had family with us all weekend, got married on Saturday, got the baby baptized on Sunday, ate a lot and had good time with family and friends. Now most are gone, and it’s nice and quiet again… :)

Oh! And I learnt my brother in law will get married next year in june too!

  2. Oh bummer! I’d offer the use of our front-loader, but CO is quite the drive just to do laundry, and FedEx isn’t all that cheap either…:)

Seriously, I hope that you are able to get the washer fixed quickly. All that vacation laundry sure piles up, doesn’t it?

  3. Well, I’ve got raisiny hands today since my $3,000 dishwasher (that’s right- $3,000) decided not to work anymore. So I’ve been washing all those dishes for nine people all weekend long…

We were in the test group for a particular dishwasher brand’s largest dishwasher on the market, so we didn’t actually pay for it. Guess you get what you pay for :)

So maybe you can come over and use my washer and I can go over to your house and use your dishwasher?

  4. I am sorry you day has been in the dumps, but at least you have company.

We are selling our townhome to move closer to my husband’s work (6.26 miles rather than 80), and the dates keep slipping because the lender keeps making mistakes and breaking promises. I figure they have cost us an additional $200-$300 so far, not to mention frustration and time of rescheduling everything!

On the plus side, I was able to post a major Bible study I did today to cover my bloggy break, so that makes me happy!

  5. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time. It sure sounds like you have the world’s first suicidal Jihadi gerbil. :p

  6. You know, I have always had problems with our FL washer. It leaks water, the water stinks sometimes. I am glad the feral gerbil is disposed of, and the worries with that are gone as well. Is the heat getting down your way??

  7. oh my girl! I have tried to comment about those gerbils and how they multiply but blogger wouldnt let me. I forgot the chewing parts to tell you about, been there…

  8. I just watched two men put in a new pump for our well. Cost? Roughly $1500, will send the bill later. (sigh) Of course the alternative would be no running water, and I am partial to running water, so………

  9. My day is grand! It was silage harvest day today and I acctually ENJOYED cooking the meals for hubby and the silage crew! (I’m going mad…marriage has made me LOVE work…)

The cows are all doing well. The sheep have me worried though: They have figured out how to open the gate.

I don’t have any smelly gerbil carcasses under the washer though. THANK GOODNESS!
