wanted: sewing machine
Blest recently confessed that she swears profusely. My own confession is less shocking, but humbling nonetheless.
Our sewing machine broke a couple of months ago, and has not yet been replaced. It just feels wrong to have 7 homeschooling daughters, cook from scratch, live in the country and be so very Prairie Muffin-ish but not own a working sewing machine. I hang my head in shame.
crazy idea #1:
This may be a long shot, but does anyone want to swap a sewing machine for an authentic 400 year old Framed Geneva Bible Page or the same thing in the King James version? Or maybe one of each…
cue narrator’s voice: “Retail value, $94.99 each!”
These are the same pages sold by Vision Forum in their current catalog and on their website.
crazy idea #2:
I would love to trade some advertising on my blog for a sewing machine. Any takers?
crazy idea #3:
Okay, I’m actually out of crazy ideas. Does anybody else have an idea for me?
Can anybody tell that I really want a sewing machine?

I might be game, have a White sewing machine, email me at angela@eclecticculture.com and I can email you pics of the machine
I love barters!!! I could have it sent out UPS on monday…
I HAVE WANTED A BIBLE PAGE!!!! I HOPE THIS CAN WORK OUT!
I admire your writing style and the heart you show through it. I have nominated you for an award, come by my blog to get the award. I hope you get your sewing machine, sorry I just can’t quite part with either of mine. My 7 girls keep them busy just like yours will when you get it replaced. Good luck.
Wow! I feel bad. If you lived close, I would give you my sewing machine. Mine has been sitting there for years. In the back of my mind, I am always thinking of the next project (Upstairs hallway curtain) yet….its been a long wasteful time since the machine has seen the light of day.
You are from San Antonio!! I would love to move there. I have been (unsuccesfully) trying to convince my beloved to move out there. My daughter has been out there 2 summer for 10 weeks as a missionary.
And by the way, your mom looks absolutely stunning for all she has accomplished. When I read your last post, I thought of the proverbs 31 woman. And still so lovely….I hope I look like that also. ~madeleine
Your blog has been a blessing to me for months! I’m so excited to possibly have the oportunity to bless you back! I have a Singer that I would be happy to give you. It is not new. but it works. The only trouble is shipping (I live in San Diego, CA), and the fact that there is no owner’s manual- but I think it’s pretty self explanatory if you are a seamstress.
I do sew- but I am not a seamstress by any means and I can borrow my friend’s Singer for the little stuff I do. I have a blog but I am still working on the comments so you’ll have to just email me at msmith@msstudiodesigns.com. My blog is http://www.msstudiodesigns.com/everychapter Check out the about page, you’re on it.
Well, not sure if this would work, BUT I live in CO and having a sewing machine that does not work. I got it at a garage sale for free (thinking I or hubby could tinker with it at some time). It is yours for FREE (no barter wanted/needed) since I got it for free. However, I would ask you pay shipping. OR, if you can wait, my mom (from SA) is coming to visit AND she can take it back with her and you can pick it up from her (but you would have to wait until end of July. Again, the machine does not work and I have no idea what is wrong with it as I never got the time to fix it up. But it is yours if you want it. Just reply on my blog.
I know that there have been some willing to part with a sewing maching but I thought I’d let you know that there are over 4000 communities all over the country that participate in freecycle.org. You sign up for the group in your area and through email you can ask for things or offer things for free to people in your community. No money changes hands. I love this. I have been able to bless people with a couch set, computer monitor, vcr, etc. That may be a place to go in the future.
Blessings,
De
De,
It’s funny you should mention that. I’m looking at Craig’s List right now for a freezer (ours is defrosting *again*. argh!) and there’s an ad on there reminding readers about Freecycle.
I need to remember these things!
I would probably give you a sewing machine but we dont have one!
Kim, if none of these sweet offers works out, try your county extension office until you are able to get a machine. Ours, emanating from our land-grant college (the University of Florida) and the USDA, has very basic machines they lend out for a specified time, free.
Well, you know what I mean by free, but it is at least a way for us taxpayers to get a little benefit from the . . . ummm, extortion.
have you concidered craigslist.org (free section) or freecycle.org for your area?
If none of these work out for you…try EBAY. I just replaced mine that had broken some time ago
for about $28.00 (and that was with shipping).

Hi Kim. I was searching google for socialization activites for an assignment in one of my classes and your blog popped up. I have really enjoyed reading about your family, they are cute. I am a mother of 4 boys. Ages 17 to 2. My husband is also a God fearing man and we are very active in our church. My husband wanted to know if you have found a sewing machine and if not what kind you were looking for. He is very interested in swapping for a bible page. You can email me and let me know. My email is its_kisty@yahoo.com. It was nice meeting you and your family.
