He’s up
Posted on July 18th, 2007 by kimc
This week, without any warning whatsoever, without even hinting that he had any sense of balance or an interest in walking upright, The Boy casually rose to a standing position in the middle of the floor.
Then, becoming aware of the shocked faces and rumble of applause, he threw his hands in the air like a gymnast completing his routine and grinned triumphantly.
There have even been rumors of Steps, though no reliable witnesses have come forth to testify.

And I’ll bet — whether it’s your 8th child or 80th — it just never gets old seeing your child do that for the first time. Thanks for sharing!
CUTE! Love his little clap at the end!
He is such a cute little guy!
My daughter did that for at least a month before she finally walked. It was hilarious. When she did take her first steps, they were from that same standing position.
Fun memories. Enjoy this time with your littlest.
How exciting! He’s growing up far too quickly.
I love that he’s so proud of himself there at the end. And that “nose” picture of him on your hubby’s blog- Oh my! Hilarious
The Boy’s birthday buddy up in Maine has been taking steps for about 4-6 weeks now (he is my earliest out of 5). The others have all been standing around in a circle clapping until my oldest instituted a new rule: no clapping for walking until he takes 3 steps at a time. (The poor kid thinks he is a movie star or something, he is applauded at every turn!)
My favorite part of this age are the deep knee bends. Step, bend, step, crash onto bottom!
