Our 2 sofas have just the right amount of room for 4 sick children, which works out nicely because today we have – can you guess? Four sick children.
Yesterday we also had 4 sick children. The day before that we had 3, and the day before that we had one. Obviously there was some overlap, because we don’t have 12 children yet.
I’m hoping the count will begin to fall soon instead of rising, since we are running out of children.
So that’s why I’m home on a Sunday morning, humming hymns in relative quiet instead of belting them out at church where I hope my inability to hold a tune is mistaken for an ability to sing harmony.
Come, thou Fount of ev’ry blessing,
Tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above;
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of God’s unchanging love.Here I raise my Ebenezer;
Hither by thy help I’m come;
And I hope by thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wand’ring from the fold of God:
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be;
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
Bind my wand’ring heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for thy courts above.Amen.
I love that hymn.
And we had a funny moment while I was helping Rachael get ready to go to church with her Daddy:
As I pulled up her little white dress tights for her, she grinned and asked me, “Mom, remember Nutcracker? That guy was wearing church tights like mine! Ewwww!“

That is one of my favorite hymns, too. The girls and I play it on guitars and it is lovely. I also love “Be Thou My Vision” and “O For a Thousand Tongues.”
Hope you all feel better soon.
I am sorry you have sick ones. I pray they will be up and around in no time.
I love Come Thou Fount. It is one of my favorites. I think my all time favorite is Be Thou My Vision.
I love that comment by Rachel… Out of the mouth of babes….
I love that one too. Too bad you have sick ones, sounds like last week at my house! Oh well, the hymns help don’t they?
Rachael is too funny!
Sure hope the kids get better soon!
That is a funny moment! I agree, “Ewwww!!”
I love that hymn, too. We sing it a little differently “Let Thy goodness” rather than “Let that grace now.” Close enough, though, eh? They are both an praise unto the Lord!
I, too, hope you have diminishing numbers in your sick kids. No fun.
We are praying for all of the kids to get better quickly!
That is a great hymn I agree, I LOVE Blessed Assurance
missed you at worship but spoke w/ your hubby. Praying you are all well soon!
