Cheap fun: pipe cleaners

I always wondered what pipe cleaners were for, aside from the obvious.
In the course of one afternoon, the girls went from looking slightly bored, to twisting simple flowers, to the wild and crazy Seussian creations you see here.

  1. Love the flower in front! I’ll have to show my girls this picture, they’ll love it. :)

  2. Now that looks like fun! Maybe I’d better invest in some pipe cleaners.

  3. Did you have a website that showed how to twist them? That looks like loads of fun!

  4. That pic makes me want to go buy bags and bags of pipe cleaners for my crew! Thanks for the idea!

  5. I have to say that the best $4 I’ve ever spent was on a giant box of popsicle sticks!! The best $2 was on a pipe cleaners. My kids LOVE those and make things for hours. :)

  6. ryan,
Part of the thrill for me was that they had no instructions at all. I got to watch the gears turning in their heads as they got new and ever-more exciting ideas. They were in danger of giving up early on, but when they thought of the hats it became an obsession!

  7. Its AWESOME!!! Bravo!

  8. I love this. Oh I love this.

It’s a marvellous idea for the girls. Maybe at their birthdayparty.
    Thanks!

  9. Inspired by your photo I just went out and purchased my crew some pipe cleaners. They had a blast! Grandma visited a couple of weeks ago and commented that she didn’t think the kids needed much in the way of toys for Christmas… I need to call her and say just send pipe cleaners. LOL!

  10. OK, this is our next art project!!
