Opening Ceremonies and the Arneson

Deanna, Kait and I went downtown this evening to attend the opening ceremonies of the SAICFF. It’s late but I wanted to share a few of the photos we took this evening. hope you can get a bit of the flavor of the evening.

Here you see the registration table in the lobby of the Lila Cockriel Theater at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Kaitlyn is plotting her weekend with an official program hot off the presses.

You can see some Seargents, Horns and Montoyfels hard at work. Thanks for your help ladies!!

Once the theater opened we took our seats as the opening ceremonies commenced. The speakers reminded us of why we are there and gave us a preview of the lectures, workshops, and a few sneak peaks.

R.C. Sproul Jr. told us this year’s crop of films was the best he had seen in 4 years of judging and let us know he would be lecturing on developing a Christian aesthetic in a post-modern world. The title of his speech will be “Putting the Meta back in our Narrative”

  1. Dear Kim,
I’m a long, long time lurker. I read your very first blog after seeing it at your dh’s! Please keep us updated on SAICFF. This is the first year that no Smiths will be there and we are missing it so much. I also have a small appearance in Monstrous Regiment. If you are able, would you please live-blog (like live-labor-blog)? It would be so appreciated.
    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  2. Kathleen,
Sorry - I wasn’t able to live-blog the festival. It was all I could do to drag myself and the kids home alive tonight, and we skipped out on the Award Ceremonies at the end.
But we’ll certainly post some more photos and details and tell about all the people we met this year. Meeting friends, old and new, is more than half the fun!

  3. Kim —

I’m loving the posts about the SAICFF. Our oldest son is on the autism spectrum and loves movies. We are thinking this is a gift he needs to pursue for a career but of course want it to be with a group that has a Christian viewpoint. We couldn’t come this year but maybe next year!

    God bless,
    Sallie

  4. I see one of my pastor’s made it there safely! I forgot they were going to this! One of these years, I hope to attend. It always looks so fun!
