Rambling

Here I sit, sipping a coffee mug of warm water (because it’s not noon yet).  I’m wracking my brain for blog fodder, because I assume you really don’t want to know how many times I’ve thrown up today.  Surely there’s more to life than vomit?

The house is quiet and nearly empty.  Hubby took 5 children with him today, leaving me with just one Big One (9yo Meg) and the two Littles.  Meg is building a blanket tent with 3yo Rachael in the living room while 17mo teething Boy squirms uncomfortably in my lap.

Meg is a great help with the little ones, a tireless and self-motivated worker, and a Friday-night-pizza maker extraordinaire.  Hubby has left me in good hands.

And for those who recently asked how I stay in shape with so many pregnancies so close together, I’ve just realized something.  Not only does morning sickness keep off the extra weight; it also provides a fantastic workout for the upper and lower abs, with some additional toning for the back and legs.

  1. Amen! Early pregnancy always had my stomach and oblique muscles hurting from the workout. Ugh.

I am amazed that with the 6 pregnancies and how big my tush gets that I get back to a 4/6 again. I just have to give it to God! :)

Praying you have a great pregnancy.

  2. I seemed to have all the weight problems after I stopped throwing up!! LOL!! I think that I was so deprived whilst in the midst, I had to make up for it! Morning sickness is not fun, yet you make light of it!! Keep up the good attitude! What a blessing that your dh can take some littles to work with him!!!

  3. Kim,once you did a post on things you use to occupy your children while you are busy .I think you mentioned a program called something like Letter Factory or the like which helped your children learn to read.Would you be so kind as to repeat the name of the program?
I wish you courage with the morning sickness-how I commiserate! Marcella

  4. Since my comment on your last “stomach” post went into oblivion, I will comment here. :)

I have 9months of morning sickness. Serious drugs are the only thing that gets me through. I lost 45 lbs total with our #5 born this past July. Gasp! you say? Nope. My waistline hasn’t looked this good since after child #2.
I told Hubs that maybe if we are blessed again quickly, I might just make it back to my post highschool size! lol!
I know, I know, folks are shaking their heads in disbelief everywhere.

I truly hope you feel better soon! Try steeping a little fresh ginger in that warm/hot water. It might at least take the edge off! Never worked for me, but then again, I’m an extreme case. :)

  5. I can relate to the workout! But I really really wish I had your attitude about it. I am the biggest baby! I get tired of hearing myself complaining…my poor husband. Thankfully I never gain more than 30ish pounds and half comes off at delivery. The other melts away with breastfeeding within in weeks. So I guess I can be grateful for that. Keep up the good spirit. You inspire me.

  6. Speaking of teething, my baby brother got his first two teeth when he was only 4mo!

  7. Oh, I do sympathise. Morning sickness is simply vile, especially when it is 24 hour sickness.

Strangely, my two largest babies (both well over 10 lb) came from the pregnancies when I was sickest and lost the most weight.
