I’m letting my hair down

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

But can you guess why?

I’ve been wearing my hair up in a clip since spring, and after many months of habit it became very difficult for me to wear it any other way. The tickling sensation drove me batty!

I finally let myself get talked into letting my hair down last week, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn’t bother me at all. Even better, I received several compliments. The clincher was when a good friend matter-of-factly announced that I looked younger with it down. That’s what friends are for. Our oldest daughter refers to her as my BFF.

I was talking to some friends last night and finally realized why it bothered me so much during the warm weather. Daddy longlegs. Our house was crawling with hundreds of these guys nearly every day for 6 months. They were falling on us from the ceiling, crawling up our legs and skirts, crunching under our bare feet in the mornings, and staring at us from every wall at every hour of the day.

Every hair that tickled my neck for those 6 months was automatically a daddy longleg. Or one of his legs, left behind a panicked flight.

Now that the weather has cooled a bit and the humidity is gone, the daddy longlegs are nearly gone from the house and my slightly insane neurosis has disappeared with hardly a trace. At least, I think so. Do I seem insane to you?

update:

Pictures?  You want pictures? On the advice of my children and against my own better judgment, here is a snapshot of me hamming it up with my long hair for the camera.  But now you’re not going to believe that part about my sanity.

    Just to clarify, is this Kim, or Perry? It says posted by Perry, but I didn’t think he had longish hair or a female BFF??
    Anyway, do you wear your hair down when you’re working around the house, or does it always get in the way?

  2. Mrs. Mecomber adds her thoughts::

    That doesn’t seem insane! I feel your pain…. (shudder) I don’t know how you guys tolerated it. I think I’d flip.

    I saw a picture of you recently with your hair down. You look fabulous for having had all those kids! I have had only four and I wish I looked as good. But then again, I am older than you… ;)

    I’m also confused about who wrote this post, come back and enlighten us soon :-)

    Ladies let me enlighten you….Mrs C is nortorious for NOT checking which log is is currently signed in when she posts.

    I and horribly consistent in checking that little box on the log in screen that says “remeber me on this computer”

    As for letting my hair down…as you can see from this picture here

    up or down my hair isn’t likely to tickle my neck….

    :D

    Yes, I’m guilty of fraudulently posting under my hubby’s username. It’s changed.

  6. Jeana adds her thoughts::

    What, all that and no picture? :-)

    I usually pull mine back too, and the other day I was wondering if there was a picture of me in existence without a ponytail.

  7. Rebekah S. adds her thoughts::

    You don’t seem insane at all!! In fact, I probably would have gone completely crazy if I had those all over my house! They scare me anyway, so that would be bad!!

    How long is your hair?

  8. Debs adds her thoughts::

    Can we see a picture? I’m sure on the old site there was a picture of you with quite short hair, so I ‘m finding it hard to picture the long hair.

  9. Shanna adds her thoughts::

    How in the world did you handle all the daddy longlegs???

  10. Jeana adds her thoughts::

    Dahling, you look ma-a-a-a-avelous.

    :) Too cute.

  12. Cyndi Lewis adds her thoughts::

    My sanity left me along time ago (LOL) – and I only have four kids. Your just fine!

    I like it :-) (Thanks for listening to public demand!)
