Giveaway: choose a book

Kittykait and I discovered the joy and wonder of Paperback Swap months ago, but hubby just discovered it this week. Our credits for free books have plummeted from 27 to 13 and he can hardly wait to check the mail every evening. Free books are exciting like that.

We get more free books for referring new members, so we’re going to pull a little publicity stunt. Go to the Paperback Swap website and browse 1.8 million books, then come back and leave a comment telling me what book you would choose if you won. We’ll choose a winner from among all the comments and the winner will receive the book of her choice, absolutely free, delivered right to her doorstep. That’s the way Paperback Swap works, and we want you to have a little taste of what members enjoy all the time. Then you’ll want to join and we’ll get free credits for referring you, and hubby can keep ordering new books to his heart’s content while I try to find room for them on the bookshelves.

For a second chance to win, pop over to Frugal Hacks and enter again!

  1. I like this one, Tea Time with God
    http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9781562920333-Tea+Time+With+God+Quiet+Moments+With+God

  2. Okay, I’ve entered several of these recently but the ones I really want are non-fiction titles which are not available on Paperback Swap! So after wracking my brain for something I really wanted and would be beneficial, I remembered this book which was written by the wife of one of my favorite fiction authors. It is called “Awakening Your Sense of Wonder: Discovering God Through the Ordinary” and is by Janet Bly. It looks to be available over there! That is my entry. :-) Thanks, Kim!

  3. I would get this book:
The Preschooler’s Busy Book: 365 Creative Games and Activities to Occupy Your 3-To-6-Year-Old
I have an almost 4 year old, a 3 year old, a 2 year old, and an almost 1 year old. I want to be a more fun mom, but need ideas!
    Thanks for the contest.

  4. I would choose “The Big Book of Weekend Woodworking: 150 Easy Projects”
Daddy and Tyler are starting a new hobby together. :)

  5. I’d love to have another copy of Becky and Roger Tirabassi’s “How to Live With Them Since You Can’t Live Without Them”. I just gave my copy away, and really wish I hadn’t since now I can’t share the terrific tips with other people.

  6. Well, with a quick (15 minute) glance around, I came up with one on my daughter’s wishlist, The Doll People. With a little more time later on, I might be able to come up with something better for myself. I know there are so many awesome books available, it is just taking the time to sort through them all.

  7. I joined through your link a few months back after you mentioned it and I LOVE IT. It’s making my homeschooling dollars go a lot further. And how fun to get books in the mail from all over the country!

  8. GROWING FRIENDSHIPS which you have on this page sure looks interesting and rewarding! i could use 5 copies of this, one for me and one for each of my girls!

  9. I’m not sure if I’m eligible as I’m in Australia and not the US, but if I won and was eligible, I’d get Helga’s Dowry: A Troll Love Story by Tomie De Paola.

  10. Reason to Believe : A Response to Common Objections to Christianity
    Author: R. C. Sproul

I want to learn so bad!

  19. Reason to Believe : A Response to Common Objections to Christianity
    Author: R. C. Sproul

This sounds like it could be helpful!

  20. I signed up so that you and dh would get some more points. Thanks a million for telling us about the sight. I would chose The Moffats by Eleanor Estes if I won.

  21. I would choose “Home Sweeter Home: Creating a Haven of Simplicity and Spirit.” by Jann Mitchell, Connie Lightner

  22. [...] If you haven’t entered our drawing for a free book of your choice, hurry! We’ll be closing the drawing tonight (Tuesday night) and announcing [...]

  23. I’ve heard Lost Horizon by J. Hilton is good. Wouldn’t mind reading it. Where do you get the books to trade? I usually only buy books I want to keep, so I don’t have any to give away. I’ll have to keep an eye out at the thrift stores. What is most popular to trade?

  24. Shelly,
Most of the books we have posted were those that we were culling from our collection. Either we bought them and they weren’t what we expected, or our standards/taste have changed over time and we no longer feel they deserve a place in our permanent library.
Or somebody carelessly bought duplicates of a good book. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does that…

  25. Hi! I would pick A Place for Everything, Organizing the Stuff of Life by Peri Wolfman and Charles Gold.

    Thanks!

  26. I would like the “Thunder From Jerusalem” book by Bodie and Brock Thoene - Zion Legacy, book 2. It’s my goal to own all their books, so by the time I get married and have kids, I’ll have some good, intriguing books for them to read :o)

    Don’t worry, I’ve bought duplicates myself :o)

  27. So, if we win…the book ours to keep, right?

Maybe I don’t understand how paperback swap works.

But, because it sounds fun, I’ll pick my choice.
    Be right back…

    Ugh, that was tough!

After HOURS of looking at books I’d be interested in, I think I’m going to go with a simple book:
“kids nature book” by: Susan Milord

Next time you give something away, can it not include hours of coveting, pretty please. :-)

After dinner (and everyone is in bed) I’ll check out how this whole swap thing works. I’ve looked at it before, but I’m not sure if I signed up. I think I may have signed up when I first heard about it, but I never really did anything with it. But, if I didn’t…how do I make sure you get credit for me signing up?

    Thanks!!!
    ~Mercy~

  28. Harriet Tubman (Women of Faith)
    Author: Rebecca Price Janney
this one gets my vote. i want to expose my children to men and women of great faith and i really like this series.

  29. Mercy,
Books from Paperback Swap are yours to keep - unless you choose to swap again when you’re done. Another nice little bonus: many hardbacks and audiobooks are available as well. In our house, paperbacks are nearly considered consumable since they rarely last through more than 1 or 2 children, so I’m always tickled to find a hardback version of a favorite title!

I’m announcing the winner in a separate post this morning, so take a look!
