  1. That’s pretty optimistic. I don’t know if Ron Paul is Thomas Jefferson, exactly…

We know he can talk the talk, but his social views still scare the heck out of me.

  2. wow

  3. Ron Paul is great. I wish he had a better shot. We really need someone like him.

    One day… One day.

  4. How does a person support someone who has absolutely no chance in getting the nomination? I’m afraid it would be like a vote for the other side.

  5. Thanks for the great video. My family and I are pretty active in our community trying to educate people about Ron Paul since the media doesn’t feel like covering his campaign. I would have to say that the number one response that we get is like the two above. “Ron Paul is great, but he doesn’t have a chance.” If people ignored the media when they refer to him as a longshot, and voted for him in the primaries, he would have a great chance!

His campaign said this week that they are very encouraged by the fact that out of the 11 candidates, Dr. Paul is one of the five remaining. Rudy Guiliani said today that if he doesn’t win FL, he’s out. Huckabee’s broke. So that takes it down to 3 of 11!
Ron Paul also won 2nd in Nevada and Louisiana (caucus.) He said that he’s taking this all the way to the convention floor.

  6. Kim, thank you so much for posting that. It was powerful.

You know, gals, if most of America, to whom his platform makes so much sense, cast their vote for him, regardless of his electability, he would simply win.
    :-)

And that’s the way it’s supposed to work.

  7. Quinn,
I didn’t see your comment while I was watching the video and writing my comment, but that last part was SO encouraging! I hadn’t heard that about Guiliani…wow. And I bet he WILL take it “all the way to the convention floor”.

  8. I’m going to go down fighting. I’ve heard all of the stuff about “voting for the most likely canidate”. What does that mean? What if the lesser of two evils is still evil? Does that make it okay to vote for them? I can’t figure out how to justify voting for someone I don’t like just so that someone I don’t like more doesn’t get it - when there actually IS someone I do wholeheartedly support! I know a bunch of people that won’t vote for him because they want to cast their vote for a “winner”.

Me and my dh are two Kansans that will be going to our primary or caucus or whatever it is for Ron Paul! :) I’ve went around and around in my head and I just *can’t* NOT vote my concious!

  9. Christians do not have the “luxury” of choosing a candidate to vote for based on “electability”. We must use God’s standards, for we are not our own, we have been bought with a price. God commands submission to law as long as it does not violate His law. (Rom. 13:1-7)

I have not heard any candidate, other than Ron Paul, base their positions on the issues on what is lawful in the United States. All of the other candidates have publically stated how they will violate their oath of office (to uphold the constitution) if they are elected. Some by promising to increase unlawful benefits, some by promoting a federal ban on smoking, and all of them (except Paul) by allowing the federal government to continue to steal our money (taxes) to “educate” the children.

We must obey our God and not allow fear to cause us to violate His word.

  10. We participated in our county caucus last night and it was too much fun! There were at least 15 Ron Paul supporters (we knew of) there who are committed to go to the State Convention. That was 25% of the total delegates just from our county!

The way to win is through the delegates! Go have a great time with your County/District/State Conventions. It really is easy.

  11. I did my part in Florida! Sorry that so few understood here! God is still in control! I am glad to hear Ron is planning to stay in all the way!

    In Christ, Eva

  12. Ron Paul is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Jefferson. Waaaaay better. The more I learn about TJ, the less I like him.

Paul is more like Hamilton. :D

  13. RP is not so much like Hamilton in my mind but more like Madison. The former had Hobbesian tendencies with a penchant for monarchy. The latter was the preeminent republican, having written much of the Constitution. So, can you tell I’m reading the Federalist Papers right now?

  14. I’m sorry, Anna… I don’t believe Hamilton had Hobbesian tendencies with a penchant for monarchies. This is a common assumption. Hamilton wrote most of the Federalist Papers, as well as Washington’s Farewell address. He was a true republican, and a Christian, at that. I love Hamilton, and the kids and I have studied his life for years now. Madison later strayed from much of what he contributed in the Federalist Papers. i think this was because of Jefferson’s humanistic influences.

Hamilton wanted to start the Christian Constitutional Society (he was killed a few days later after writing of his desire to form it).

  15. Oh, and Madison did not write much of the Constitution. It was a combined effort, but Gouvenor Morris did most of the actual “writing.” Hamilton was the one who brought up the idea of a Constitution to begin with (this was several years back when the guys were wrestling over revising the Articles of Confederation). I hope PC and Kim don’t mind a link in a comment. If so, I’m sorry and delete it. You can contact me at my email, Anna, if you’d like the link for more info. We LOVE the Founders and have all sorts of delightful stories in our blogs! :D

  16. Thanks for posting this! I have shamelessly stolen it for my own blog.

  17. What an encouragement! When you see blogs like this (and there are many) and you see the comments that are written, one wonders why Ron Paul isn’t doing better when the conservative evangelicals are such a sought-after commodity. Unfortunately, here in Indiana, I probably won’t have a chance to influence the choice of nominee. Our primary is not until May!

Mrs. Mecomber, I hope I posted this link right, but I thought you might find it interesting. Not trying to create a problem, just showing another perspective.

  19. Thank you for straightening me out, Mrs. Mecomber. I will be more diligent in my study in the future.

  20. Paul has some decent ideas, but he also has the benefit of running a campaign with no expectation of winning. In a two party system, there unfortunately is a sense of pragmatism. Paul appeals to a small fraction of Republicans and an even smaller slice of the general populace. The breathless rhetoric about Paul being the greatest American since…well, ever….is a bit over the top.

By the way, Paul’s ideas on the Federal Reserve and monetary policy are way out of whack in a global economy. We don’t live in a relatively isolated agrarian society anymore. If you want to return to the days of 19% mortgages in return for 16% certificates of deposit, that is the way to go.

You’ll have to forgive my perplexity at that statement Could you tell me what about his monetary policy is “out of whack”?

How is free trade not global enough?
