In a two party system, there unfortunately is a sense of pragmatism. Paul appeals to a small fraction of Republicans and an even smaller slice of the general populace. The breathless rhetoric about Paul being the greatest American since...well, ever....is a bit over the top. By the way, Paul's ideas on the Federal Reserve and monetary policy are way out of whack in a global economy. We don't live in a relatively isolated agrarian society anymore. If you want to return to the days of 19% mortgages in return for 16% certificates of deposit, that is the way to go. Hamilton was the one who brought up the idea of a Constitution to begin with (this was several years back when the guys were wrestling over revising the Articles of Confederation).
