"By the way, Paul’s ideas on the Federal Reserve and monetary policy are way out of whack in a global economy. We don’t live in a relatively isolated agrarian society anymore. If you want to return to the days of 19% mortgages in return for 16% certificates of deposit, that is the way to go."

You'll have to forgive my perplexity at that statement Could you tell me what about his monetary policy is "out of whack"?

How is free trade not global enough?

Paul has some decent ideas, but he also has the benefit of running a campaign with no expectation of winning. In a two party system, there unfortunately is a sense of pragmatism. Paul appeals to a small fraction of Republicans and an even smaller slice of the general populace. The breathless rhetoric about Paul being the greatest American since...well, ever....is a bit over the top.

Mrs. Mecomber, I hope I posted this link right, but I thought you might find it interesting. Not trying to create a problem, just showing another perspective.

What an encouragement! When you see blogs like this (and there are many) and you see the comments that are written, one wonders why Ron Paul isn't doing better when the conservative evangelicals are such a sought-after commodity. Unfortunately, here in Indiana, I probably won't have a chance to influence the choice of nominee. Our primary is not until May!

Oh, and Madison did not write much of the Constitution. It was a combined effort, but Gouvenor Morris did most of the actual "writing." Hamilton was the one who brought up the idea of a Constitution to begin with (this was several years back when the guys were wrestling over revising the Articles of Confederation). Check out this for more: http://meetthefounders.blogspot.com/2007/06/founding-fathers-overview.html

I hope PC and Kim don't mind a link in a comment. If so, I'm sorry and delete it. You can contact me at my email, Anna, if you'd like the link for more info. We LOVE the Founders and have all sorts of delightful stories in our blogs! :D

I'm sorry, Anna... I don't believe Hamilton had Hobbesian tendencies with a penchant for monarchies. This is a common assumption. Hamilton wrote most of the Federalist Papers, as well as Washington's Farewell address. He was a true republican, and a Christian, at that. I love Hamilton, and the kids and I have studied his life for years now. Madison later strayed from much of what he contributed in the Federalist Papers. i think this was because of Jefferson's humanistic influences.

Hamilton wanted to start the Christian Constitutional Society (he was killed a few days later after writing of his desire to form it).

RP is not so much like Hamilton in my mind but more like Madison. The former had Hobbesian tendencies with a penchant for monarchy. The latter was the preeminent republican, having written much of the Constitution. So, can you tell I'm reading the Federalist Papers right now?
