What’s on my plate

Today, I just might be biting off more than I can chew.  My friend Jenny B. and I are going back to the produce terminal on Friday, but this time we’ll go armed with a list from the rest of the church and a few other friends.  If the last trip was exciting, this one will be like a day on the tallest rollercoaster in the theme park!

On hubby’s advice, just a few minutes ago I created an online shared spreadsheet for our friends to collaborate on orders.  This makes it easier to see who wants how much of each item so we’ll know if there’s enough interest to justify, say, 48 heads of celery or 50 lbs. of cabbage, carrots, onions or potatoes.  Using the spreadsheet will be a lifesaver.  It also allows people to change their orders 47 times without consulting me 47 times.  This saves me time and saves my friends from guilt.  Everyone should be happier!

In the space of 15 minutes, I’ve gone from shaking in my boots and sacrificing my sanity for the sake of friends’ food budgets, back to being truly excited about doing this!  It’s a good thing somebody in this house has organizational skills.

Brains and brawn. I love my man.

  1. I just have to know what church you go to! We are in SA and I would LOVE to get in on this… or start a group of my own to share food costs! How great is this!?

  2. Wow! Wish I lived closer to TX, but then I would have to deal with many other issues like bugs….

  3. Kim, can you tell us “how” you actually organized this?

How do you share a spreadsheet online?

  4. Ya know, the only thing cooler would be to get to pick it yourself! That is an awesome idea.

  5. I, for one, am grateful that you are willing to do this! Thank you Kim and Perry—the changeable spreadsheet is brilliant!

p.s. Kim, can we take advantage of the 50% off sale in person at VF when we pick up produce?

  6. I’m not Kim but yes the 50% sale is available in the store.
    See you tomorrow!
