Can I go back to bed and start the day over?
This week is going to be another whirlwind. Here’s what we have had planned:
Monday: Midwife appointment; get the house cleaned and laundry entirely caught up for tomorrow.
Tueday: Pack for upcoming homeschool conference in Oklahoma City. We’ll be doing the Vision Forum booth!
Wendesday: Leave for OKC first thing in the morning. Try to leave a clean house behind us. It’s supposed to be an 8-9 hour drive. That means it will probably take us 10-12 hours.
Thursday: Check into hotel, go to convention center, unload trailer and set up booth.
Friday: All-day conference, then dinner at my parents’ house.
Saturday: All day conference; clean up and tear down booth, load trailer.
Sunday: Home again, home again, jiggety-jig.
So as I said, this week is going to be another whirlwind, and I’m off to a rip-roaring start. My whole morning was a big fat “oops.”
I got up bright and early so I could be on time for my 10:30 midwife appointment. Hubby had rearranged his day so he could carpool and I could use his small car - this way I didn’t have to drive the van and burn gas unnecessarily. I had already canceled my dental appointment because it was set for 1:00 and I didn’t think I would be able to make both. What was I thinking when I scheduled both on the same day? I didn’t remember, for reasons that would become clear a little later.
It’s a 90 minute drive and I had to leave at 9. My back was hurting so I was moving a bit slow and I didn’t read my Bible before I left. This means I also didn’t get online or check my email. Ouch.
On the bright side, I was only 20 miles down the road when I realized in a moment of clarity that my midwife is only in her office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I couldn’t possibly have an appointment today. My appointment is tomorrow. I called the dentist back but my appointment had already been filled by another patient, better organized than I.
Since I was nearly to the small town that holds our WalMart, I continued. I spent way too much time getting a few odds and ends, moving slowly because my back was hurting more and more. I didn’t get home until after lunch.
I lowered my aching back onto the couch and tried to issue a few commands, but the older girls quickly talked me into lying down on my bed. There’s more, but it’s a blur. The rest of the day melted away.
Tomorrow, I need to leave bright and early for a midwife appointment. And pack for a 5 day trip for 10 people.
Make it all worth it: tell me you live in OKC and you’re going to the homeschool conference. Anyone?
psst…speaking of Vision Forum, check this out. But quick. Our giveaway ends Wednesday night.

I don’t, and I’m not.
However, MAN! I have days like that!
I’m kinda glad to know that you’re real - I’m sorry, as I know your issues today weren’t for MY benefit!
Tonight I’m praying for your rest so you can get that packing done tomorrow.
The Lord bless you:-)
I’m not going to the conference but if you need a place to stop for lunch, we’d love to have ya! - Seriously !
I might just go if you’ll be there.
I don’t homeschool, though. Am I disqualified?
(Emily Gunn doesn’t know me, but I know who she is and if she invited me to lunch, I would most definitely go! )
Kim, my friend and I are going to the conference. We are driving down Friday and staying through Saturday. I will definetly stop by and say hi, I was going to email you anyway and let you know we would be in San Antonio for a good part of the summer for Braden’s doctors. I will see you this weekend.
8-9 hours?!! Oh, I resolve to stop whining about our four-hour drive to our convention next month!
My admiration for you just grew a little more.
Hope your back feels better soon.
Blessings,
Suzanne
I will be in OKC for the conference. We may be there Friday afternoon and we will be there all day Saturday. I am so glad Vision Forum is having a booth. I will look for you.
I will wave as you drive past me in Lawton!

I think you need a chiropractor before you go
I live here and I’m planning to go. I’m looking forward to it. This will be my first homeschool conference!
Rough week! and with pregnancy brain too!
Here’s some help with the packing:
Type a standard list of what you want each child to pack in Word. Then copy and paste in columns until you have as many lists as you have children. Save, print, cut apart shopping list style and give one to everyone who reads well. Tell them to check things off as they add them to the bag. Have the older ones pack bags for the non-readers. Next time you have to go somewhere just print it up again! We do this for camping trips ever since our dreaded “no-underwear” trip.
Those are some sweet, sweet girls to insist you lay down and care for you like that. Some of my kids would probably just be asking for more juice or a different movie or book or begging to go outside (which they aren’t allowed to do by themselves because of the rattlesnakes).
My husband and I serve on the board of trustees for OCHEC, the convention host. We’ll be there all day Thursday (see you at setup!), Friday and Saturday. Let us know if you need anything.
I’m also expecting (number 5), I’m a midwife, and I have a ROCKIN’ chiropractor (someone mentioned that you might could use one). I’ll make sure I stop by and say hello.
I guess I don’t need to ask if you are getting any of those “pregnancy forgetfulness” symptoms yet.
I love the title of this post. I feel that way all the time. I also love how you have words written and crossed out. Very appropriate.
Wonderful - I can’t wait to meet you all there! Thanks y’all. I feel much better about my day, too.
wow, I can’t believe how many Okies visit you:) I live here and am hoping to go, so I will stop by if we make it!
