No news is…
…just no news. I’m just busy tying up loose ends and finishing whatever projects don’t finish me first.
Remember this? Well, I was wrong about the tile: we didn’t buy enough to finish the project in the last go-round. It is only available from Home Depot, and the last time we worked on this project the color we needed had been recently discontinued. That was Labor Day weekend, and we were just in time to grab the last box on clearance along with enough of another color in the same style to create a new plan.
This time, I had a long, quiet panic in which I was sure the entire line had been discontinued, was unavailable from any other source (including Ebay, the original manufacturer, and the message boards/forums where people were desperately hoping to get their hands on just one more box…).
And then Home Depot called me back to say that yes, they still sell it in all but the one color that we already knew had been discontinued and how many boxes did I want? Yes, God. Thank You for the reminder that You’re in control of everything and You even care about the little things; I’ll take the hint and try not to worry about big things so much.
So we bought the tile. And the plywood. And hubby and the kids unloaded, moved and reloaded 3 enormous bookcases, and found a temporary place for 2 sofas and other misc. furniture.
Then they peeled out the ugly, old carpet which was 3 years ago tossed out of a cheap motel (and you know how ugly motel carpet is, even in the nice places!). The living room no longer smells like a combination of stinky feet and dog.
Then they spent a while oohing and aaahing at the long-lost treasures that emerged from under the sofas and the carpet.
Finally, they swept up 3 years’ worth of dust and dog hair, and they measured and cut the plywood subflooring, attached it with several pounds of screws, a little bit of blood and a lot of sweat, and they called it a day.
That was Saturday. Today, the girls and I applied leveling compound to smooth out the seams and screw heads, and now they are banished from the house out splashing in the pool while I prime the floor with white paint to provide a better surface for the vinyl to adhere to.
Actually, I’m done and we’re waiting for the paint to dry, but don’t tell, OK?

My goodness! What a busy weekend! Glad to hear things worked out for you though!
Kim,
I have been enjoying reading your Blog for a while, sorry this is my first comment. Wow, putting new floor in while in your ninth month of pregnancy, that sounds like something I would do. Must be the nesting! Praying for a healthy, speedy labor and delivery.

That baby is coming soon. With number 4 I remeber shampooing the carpets in the house and then cleaning out my closet and having a baby all in the same day. Go figure I guess I was nesting.
I agree. Wow. You might not be ouchy-uncomfortable, but yer sure acting like a pre-laboring woman!
Soon!?! Soon!?

I hope so!
I’ve been offline due to the laptop being “in the shop”, and now it’s back so I can be online again! A dubious pleasure…
I think that your body is focusing in and getting ready for birth. I think it’s your body’s natural calm before labor/delivery. I just wish I would log in one day to your blog and find that your wait is over and you have a nice, warm baby in your arms!
I’ve been shown so many, many times that God is a micro-manager, and that He does care about the smallest things. I recently blogged about losing a receipt that I really needed for a refund on a major purchase. I was praying about it and a week or so later my daughter found it while swiffing Under The Bed! I’m constantly blessed by how He’s so faithful and giving with me, when I’m so selfish and unfaithful to Him….
I found myself so blessed by the fact that your girls pitch right in with the building of your house! It inspired me to include my girls in more things I do around here. Thanks!
Well, I guess that’s it!
LOVE
