It doesn't taste the best, but I just mix it with a little herbal mint tea and you are only taking maybe 10 drops of the herb at a time anyway. It sounds like the liquid calcium is similar in what it does. The herb is also a muscle relaxer and is manufactured and distributed by Good Herbs out of Troy, Michigan. I just buy it from my local health food store. That is the one thing that I would never want to go through labor without, and my turns in about 4 wks. Congrats on the baby girl! Some of the girls were giggling about Dad's labor tips, and suggesting that maybe he needs pain relief too when I squeeze his arm too hard or his back locks up from supporting my awkward positions. I don't keep track of which brands I have tried but as far as I know, all liquid calcium tastes like minty chalk. I certainly don't enjoy the flavor, but I'm willing to force down a gulp every now and then. I know there are some yummy calcium chews available (Viactin, or something like that?) but am not sure if they are absorbed as quickly as the liquid. I have also seen recipes for Labor-Ade that call for crushing/dissolving calcium tablets in a lemon-ade type mixture; the acid is supposed to help speed along absorption while the sugar provides energy. If you can't get past the chalky flavor of the bottled variety you might want to do a google search for one of those recipes. Yes, y’all caught me.
