If you’ve read my birth stories, you know how often I go into labor on Thursdays. I believe my stats run ~89%. Of course, it’s usually the Thursday following my due date rather than the one before, but a girl can hope, can’t she?
Would anyone care to share some recommended reading for labor, just in case? Light humor, inspirational posts, birth stories…nothing that requires deep thought or a great attention span. Just drop me a link in the comments if you want to suggest something. Of course there’s no guarantee that I’ll be in the mood to browse, but it seems likely.
And if I get too far from the computer, I have a new book from PaperbackSwap that fits the bill: Monkeys on the Interstate, by Jack Hanna. He’s not a great literary master (and he uses the word cr** too much; I guess it goes with the job when you’re a zookeeper), but he sure has some great stories to tell.

I can’t really think of a link to share. I am really excited for y’all though. I imagine your kids and husband are excited too. Do you have another midwife appointment set up? You have been pretty quiet on the he/she thing. Do you still think boy? Or just not sure? Did you start the EPO and Blue Cohosh? If so, do you think they’re prepping you? Lots of questions, huh?
Well, maybe you will have another little one on the 28th or maybe next week you’ll have your own fireworks on the 4th of July.

You can’t really buy this in time, but if you enjoy reading the Jack Hanna book, you would probably like A View From the Zoo, by Gary Richmond. He was a zookeeper for the San Diego zoo. Each chapter is a different, short anecdote from his experiences with the animals. The best thing is he’s a Christian, and he ties in Biblical lessons with every story.
And you don’t have to worry about the language!

I’m still leaning toward boy but I have no illusions that I can guess with any sort of accuracy. Yes, I started the EPO and Blue Cohosh. Strangely enough, false labor tapered off sharply when I started them – or maybe not so strange? Does anyone else know?
I do have another prenatal checkup scheduled, but both the midwife and I were laughing nervously when we set it up, sincerely hoping that I wouldn’t make that appointment.
Actually, the herbs help to get your uterus to “smarten up” and stop wasting energy on the little contractions- so it can focus on making big ones instead that make significant change to your cervix when it’s time… hopfully soon(I love it when I can put all my ob nursing knowledge to good use)! I’m praying for a safe, smooth and quick labor for you!
