Birthday Boy
Although I didn’t manage to deliver a baby sister for The Boy’s birthday on Saturday, he did have a good day nonetheless. He went out birthday shopping with his dad and older sisters and came home with tons of loot.
The big hit of the day was a pair of soft foam swords and shields. He calls swords, “Cha” because everyone knows that you have to yell, “cha! cha!” as you lunge forward and swing at your opponent. They didn’t last long, but hoo-boy did he and his dad have fun.
Kaitlyn and Lydia made him a birthday cake:
The dog brought a present too. She brought this little guy up on the deck, adding to the excitement. We let him go after a day.
And since he’s a Big Boy now, he even had the privilege of helping with dishes. Not a privilege? Shhh, don’t tell him!

That’s so cute! Our little man calls his guns, “my Shoot,” since that what he uses them for. “Cha!” makes sense to me! Happy Birthday Perry!
I am VERY impressed with the cake! Great job, girls!
He’s adorable! And helping with dishes is a ‘privilege’! I totally agree with the ‘cha-cha’! The girls did a great job with the cake, it looks wonderful! I love the little ‘present’! Our cats used to do that all the time
Wow, I’m really impressed with the cake! It’s too cute.
It looks like he had a great time.
Please be wary of handling armadillos.

“Tacky” glue works great for fixing those foam swords. Glue it together, then run a bead of glue around the edge of the repair, and prop somewhere for 24 hours. Voila! Better than new.
Soooooo cute! I love that last picture! I remember the days when helping with the dishes was a privilege, and we’d beg for it. I wonder what happened….!
I love the picture of him with the dishes. Sounds like you had a great day for his birthday.
Aack! Can y’all come catch the armadillo that’s been digging up our yard? He’s a complete nuisance. (Although when it came time for the Easter egg hunt, I just dropped the eggs down the holes he’d dug.)
My little Jafeth just turned two also! How fun!!! Happy birthday to Perry!
Wow, what a nice birthday!
His sisters made a wonderful cake and the armadillo was very cute, but I think that, for Perry jr., the bst thing was having a little sister as an anticipation for this day
Have a wonderful week end!
That is an impressive cake!
Those are great pictures. You must be enjoying your new camera toys!
That really is an armadillo, eh!? I thought at first it was a turtle and then looked again at it…I never have seen one that small. Hey, don’t you need to change your header picture now? Just wondering…
I thought at first the armadillo was a toy! I’ve never seen a real one except at the zoo.
That cake was adorable.
My daughter Jennifer was 2 on Saturday also! She got her first little doll and is enjoying that, along with a puppy dog bubble blowing machine. Bubbles everywhere!
My oldest son used to call swords “HI-YAH” when he was Perry’s age (as you yell ‘hi-yah” when you sword fight).
Thanks for sharing — love your family pictures. Have a fun July 4th!
Let me know when he’s ready for his first gun. I’ll buy!!
Love ya all,
Grandpa Coghlan
HAppy Birthday little guy!
He’s too sweet!
Happy Birthday Perry! …and I would still like to know what the anti-birthday present was.
Kaitlyn and Lydia, excellent job on the cake, it is so cute! Perry looks so cute in the pictures. I love that little ones think dish washing is fun!
that cake is too cute and cute pics of you boy, too. And pardon my ignorance, but I thought that armadillo was a toy at first, then I remembered where you guys live and upon closer examination realized he/she/it was real! He’s really kind of cute.
The cake is so cute! Kaitlyn and Lydia did an awesome job! Perry is so adorable and sweet looking. I think washing the dishes starts out fun for the young kiddos since they feel included then just becomes a chore for the rest of us!
Happy 4th
Happy Belated Birthday!
Love the cake, that is too precious. Those girls should go into business on the side!
He is so cute- happy, happy birthday! Our boys LOVE those foam swords also. We are so glad the swords are cheap b/c we go through them quickly! LOL
