No, not me.  If you must know, I gained more like 4 pounds over the last 4 days.  I know, I know.  I’m supposed to be losing weight, not gaining.  But the last 10 days have been nothing short of a Food Fest, beginning with the 3 lb. box of See’s Chocolates that my dear, sweet in-laws gave me as a baby gift.  All dark chocolate, baby.  I guess labor & delivery has more benefits than just a sweet baby.

But I’m not the only one gaining weight.  Maybe the chocolate is making my milk richer, because this little angel is now 8 lbs. even, up from 7.5 a week ago.  And this was an early morning weigh in, after her traditional all-night fast.  Since she’s gaining at the rate of an ounce per day, she might have weighed even more by this evening.

Credit where credit is due: my in-laws knew about See’s spectacular, wonderful delicious chocolate because my hubby offered it up as a suggestion when they wanted to know what they could get me.  And my hubby knew about See’s scrumptious, delectable, unmatched-by-any-other chocolates because my grandparents have sent us a box every year for Christmas since I was little.

I love their Key Lime Truffles…..and they have these chocolates that are like brown sugar in the middle, yummmmmmmy!!!! What a thoughtful and wonderful gift for you!!!

And on ovarian guilt??? It would have been me too…….you’re the Mom of the Year in my eyes, as you tried to rescue her as soon as you were apprised of the situation. AND handwriting it for her?? Just what a Mom of the Year would do!!

    Take good care of you!

Leanne in Longview…….As always, Bethany is beautiful!

  2. What an adorable picture of your little one. AND the chocolates! Yum! I’ll have to drop a hint to my hubby!

  6. Susan :

I just love pictures of sleeping babies. And chocolate but I think baby gets first place.

  7. Dawn :

She’s so precious! I can’t wait for our new daughter to get here, so I’m living vicariously through you! Congratulations on the weight gain….ummm hers, not yours…I’ll give you hugs for that, but I’m sure you are no worse for the wear.
    Blessings, Dawn

  8. Michelle :

What a great idea to ask (or hint around for) Sees Candy. I went and bought my own 1 pound box two weeks before I delivered my last baby. (All dark chocolate of course!)They gift wrapped it for me so I wouldn’t lose control too early. I ate the whole thing before leaving the hospital two days after the baby was born. It should be a tradition I think.
Your baby is absolutely perfect. (I am convinced that chocolate is the key to great cream production)

  9. Lois Groat :

If you have been pondering whether your baby is more beautiful than other babies, or if all mothers just think that about their own babies, the answer is: Your baby is more beautiful than other babies. Just so you don’t have to wonder.

  10. Sweets for our sweet daughter-in-law!

Have I ever told how glad we were that you married our son?

  11. Lori :

She is gaining weight because she is getting CHOCOLATE MILK! Lucky duck, oops, I meant baby! LOL
Never had that brand of chocolate – sounds delish.

  12. Lauren :

I’m so glad to hear she’s gaining!

I just wanted to say that my daughter was also tongue tied, and also had nursing problems.

We just had it clipped today, and the difference is AMAZING. Before I was having to pump and feed from a bottle half the time because she just couldn’t latch. Now she latches right on!

If having the tongue tie clipped is an option for you, I would definitely recommend it.

  13. Sharon :

Congrats on her gaining weight! I love See’s too — although I admit that I love their suckers….that is what I remember from my childhood. Us kids got suckers. While out in CA recently I stopped by and picked some up…now I will have to pick up some chocolates.

  14. See’s are the BEST!!!!! My in-laws live in California and have a See’s outlet nearby….they bring us at least one 2 lb box every time they come to visit. At Christmas, we got 2 boxes. Ummmmm! And hey, it’s good that you’re eating them now, because I can tell you that if you try to hoard them for months like we do, the buttercream/bordeux ones get stale and hard. And that is a REAL crying shame. So eat up!

  15. Mrs. C :

Well, chocolate was AWFUL for the babies when I was nursing. Dare I say the hours-long screaming wasn’t worth it?? Glad for you you don’t have that problem. I think that was one of the hardest things about nursing; giving up chocolate and coffee.

  16. Karen :

Mmmmm…See’s Candies are so yummy. My dad gets my older girls each a pound of chocolates PLUS a gift card for ANOTHER pound for each of their birthdays and Christmas. THIS dutiful daughter wonders where HERS are sometimes! :-) But being pregnant, maybe I’m in a bargaining position. And you realize you HAVE created a craving for me, you know. (Speaking of cravings…thinking Tex-Mex. Can you send me some?)
    ;-)

    Bless you,
    Karen
