1 more reason to boycott McDonald's. While saving a female customer from an attacker an employee was shot several times and now the Mcdonald's will not pay worker's comp. He has $300,000 in medical bills. 2nd Mcdonalds in now going to import beef from South America which in not governed like North American beef.

Kim, I appreciate you taking the risk in posting this. Don't let your heart be troubled by those who believe a false gospel and preach strange doctrines.

For the record, I am not a huge fan of loud boycotts, protests, etc. And I think it is healthy for Christians to debate whether those methods are the most Christlike response to evil. But that is a far cry from raising a fuss over a boycott because you believe a false gospel and preach strange doctrines.

I hope you understand that some of the attacks you got for this post are based on a false gospel.

Around 11:30 <del datetime="2008-08-01T06:15:26+00:00">this morning</del> yesterday morning,Melissa left the following comment

"Sex between consenting adults is completely different than the rape of a child or child exploitation. I don’t think anyone here would condone any kind of abuse towards a child.

The issue is, religion shouldn’t have a place in politics (separation of church and state). That doesn’t mean that you can’t uphold what you believe it, but rather that you can’t force others to believe what you believe. What if the majority of Americans were Mormon and everyone decided that the national religion should Mormonism? You probably wouldn’t be happy, right?"

I want to take a moment to respond directly to this and then I'm closing comments on this thread.

First Melissa asserts

Sex between consenting adults is completely different than the rape of a child or child exploitation. I don’t think anyone here would condone any kind of abuse towards a child.

She is correct that no one here is condoning that; however, the gay lifestyle is very condoning of pedophilia, a point Pastor Doug Wilson made well here and that I think was Mrs. C's point.

Secondly she asserts

"The issue is, religion shouldn’t have a place in politics (separation of church and state)."

Here she is completely off base. Religious expression is inescapable. The idea that "religion" has no place in the public sphere is in itself a religious statement. It is never a matter of whether or not someone's religion will be enforce in the public sphere but a matter of WHOSE religion will be. Secular humanism and the relativism it brings are inescapably religious. Personally I prefer the eternal standards of God's Word be enforced rather than the whims of the humanist and his relativist friends.

Lastly she asks

What if the majority of Americans were Mormon and everyone decided that the national religion should Mormonism? You probably wouldn’t be happy, right?"

Right. Because Mormonism is false.

Honestly I don't care what McDonalds do with their money. I go pay and receive what I am paying for and that is all I care.

I live in Mexico so the food quality is a lot better, you actually don't get sick from eating at MD.

My point is, we have no right to judge an individual or a company for their actions, we cannot control the world. Is up to the Lord to judge us all when the time comes.

Wow. I don't have an opinion on the McDonalds thing, just wanted to say I am stunned by the way people - commenters here and McDonalds themselves - are flinging around the accusation of hatred here. Expressing an opinion critical of someone's behavior is not hate, it's just - an opinion.

Michele,

Of course no one is perfect, but you're right that we should never stop striving to be.

My problem is with the targeting of McDonald's. How many people here have a Bank of America account or a Pepsi product in their house? Both of those are also major supporters. Some people mentioned going to Burger King instead of McDonald's. Well, Burger King is also a major supporter. My point is, if you're going to make a statement by boycotting you have to do your homework, especially if you're representing a faith.

If you boycott one while patronizing another, what kind of statement are you making to your community and your children? Also, what kind of example are you if you sign a petition knowing that you won't likely follow through?
