He loves his girls
Some might think that a boy with 8 sisters might be a bit sissified. Not our boy. He loves his sisters and does everything he can to take care of them. Already, he defends them daily from bugs and bad guys, using his foam sword or his gun if necessary. He refers to each of them by name with “my” attached to the front: my Megan, my Kaitlyn, my Rachael, etc. He comes running when they cry to see what he can do to help. He is especially concerned when Bethany cries, and since their carseats are together in the van he always holds her hand to keep her happy.
He also plays with dolls.
There is one doll in particular which he carries around for hours on end. He thinks it’s his baby. If you ask about it he will tell you that he is the baby’s dad. Her mom is at the store. And then he rocks the baby and bounces her, and offers to let you hold her - but he wants her right back, because she cries when others hold her. She wants her dad.
That boy loves his girls. He’s just like his dad.

Oh, what a great Daddy! For some reason it made me giggle that the baby’s mom is “at the store”.
Love it! My sister in law was puzzled once when her young son wanted to push his sister’s baby doll stroller around constantly. Then it occurred to her: Daddies always push the strollers when the family’s out together! Your little guy is so sweet.
This is so precious, I love the line he loves his girls just like his dad! He is definately going to have a great respect for his wife someday and that is why I love the way you raise your children and teach them so indepth about their roles in the family. You guys are amazing parents, I think it would be fun to be a part of ya’ll!
Blessings
I love this post. We also have a boy who loves his doll. We just figure he has good practice for being a daddy. He is also the first two year old I have who doesn’t poke the baby’s eyes. What a blessing!
Well, let’s hope that when she gets back from the store that all his money’s not gone.
It’s terrific what little minds think!
Wonderful! I have BILs and cousins who won’t let their boys touch a doll, and I ask them how they’ll practice being dads? Dan (newly 5yo) has his own baby (a boy one even, he wanted one that looked like him), Sam didn’t care for them, but he loves his sisters as well.
That is so sweet! Our oldest is a boy and we are expecting our fourth daughter in a few weeks. I would love more, but my husband is a little afraid of having more girls! I don’t think I can show him your blog ; )
Too cute. We have a little beanie-baby boy doll (currently naked, his clothes disappeared long ago) that all of my boys have taken a turn “playing daddy” with. It was definately boy play, too. Hug and kiss the baby one minute, then use it to whop a brother over the head with, then hug and kiss it again. :p
We have 4 older girls, and the youngest son. I hope he does this. It’s so precious. Thanks for sharing that!
GREAT story, Kim. I’m glad you shared it…that is precious ,and a great example.
Very sweet! Our 2 year old loves his babies too. When my oldest was little he carried around a boy cabbage patch doll, he was a very caring daddy.
My oldest is a 7 1/2 yo boy & he practices being a dad as well. So, this game isn’t just for boys with big sisters. I think it’s great that our husbands are setting a good example to our little guys as to what a dad really is. Thanks for sharing.
