Today’s projects

  1. Greet the internet repair technician.  Kiss his shoes as he leaves.  If we have real working internet throughout the house, that is.
  2. Set up a puppy blog to help sell the Yorkie pups.  We’ll put an ad in the local paper later this week with the url and post plenty of pics and videos.  Theoretically.  Take a peek if you’d like to see how the project is coming, but don’t expect anything fancy.
  3. Give the pups and momma dog all a bath.
  4. Schedule momma dog’s haircut to coincide with a brake repair on the van.  My list of broken things was getting too long yesterday so I didn’t tell y’all that the brakes on the van are grinding.  I think they’re under warranty.
  5. Schedule that brake repair on the van.
  6. Bake a chocolate zucchini cake for company dessert tonight.  HT to Owlhaven for the recipe.
  7. Hide all line-dried underclothes before company arrives.
  8. Get ready for Tuesday potluck: we’re expecting about 20 guests plus our own 11.  The weather is gorgeous, so we might move some chairs out to the deck.
  9. This one is blank, because we all know I’m forgetting something important.
  10. This one too.
  11. And this one.
  12. Call the electric company to find out why they think we owe them $851 when I just paid 2 bills last month to catch up on the previous bill that I had forgotten to pay.  There’s no way I can be more than a couple of weeks behind now.  It’s not that I don’t believe I could forget for 3 months in a row, but the logistics simply don’t work.
  13. I’d better leave another blank space for something important that I’ll remember later.
  14. Like this: choose a winner for last Monday’s giveaway.  I’ll do it now.

The winner of the Vision Forum Scotland faith and freedom tour entitled “How the Scots Saved Christendom

is Mama Olive. Her second entry was the one that did it for her: she blogged about the giveaway here.

  3. OOOH, Thank you so much! I feel special. :-)

  4. We’ll as for your forgetting the electric bill… in June I thought I had forgot too. I had alot going on including being in the hospital for a kidney stone and then surgery for it.. so I called the electric company and said hey can I pay next week and gave this poor man the whole story and he then said Mrs. Cooper you already paid that on this date.. I said I did?? Okay, I then got off the phone and thought I was going crazy.. so I dug thru my endless receipts since we pay with cash for everything I keep a ton of receipts and there it was I had paid about a week before I landed in the hospital..So I would be sure to check that one out! You have alot on your plate here lately, but oh how fun to get together with friends! Enjoy

  5. Definitely check out the electric bill, Kim.

Something really strange happened to us. When we moved in we just payed our (huge) deposit and had the first months payment spread out over the next four months. Well we’ve been paying everything on time, but this month we got a huge bill. So I called to see what was goin on and they told me that somehow, although I asked for clarification like 30 times when I paid our last bill, I only paid half of July’s bill last month and the remainder had been rolled forward. *scratches head*

I just said “ok, whatever” and paid it because I did not have the brain power to figure out exactly what happened, but it was good to know that our energy usage hadn’t skyrocked, as was my f ear.

  6. Lauren,
It turns out the bill was older than I thought. Apparently it was kicked around on the floorboard of a certain vehicle for a couple of weeks, and was generated right before I made the last enormous payment.
So it all makes sense now. Still hurts.

  7. We’ve had a family potluck with my extended family here in the neighborhood and one longtime family friend for many years running, but we recently expanded it by inviting some nearby friends from Plymouth Rock Ranch and another sweet lady (Hi, Martha!).
It’s a traditional sort of potluck: everyone brings food and we all share. We usually take turns hosting between me and my sister but she is 2 weeks from having a baby so potluck is at our house for a while.

  8. sounds fun! i love potlucks, fun to try different foods that I didnt have to cook… (esp. now with morning sickness…) Tell your husband I sent a large package to VF of farm goodies… he may want to get a bite before they are gone… sent them UPS today… fun fun!
