Sick kids and a trip to town.  I’m so thankful for children old enough to babysit!

For those of you with no older children, be patient.  I remember thinking it would take forever to reach this season in life, and here I am.

Our oldest is old enough now that we don’t have to hire a babysitter. It truly *is* a whole different world once that happens!!

    Amy :)

Thanks for the encouragement. My oldest is 8.

Thank you for the reminder. Our oldest is 13, and he really does help. Although I am waiting to see the younger ones grow up enough to realize they need to listen to him better!

    Hope everyone feels better soon.

I too am looking foward to that . BTW,
What is a good age? I know it depends on maturity too, but how is 13-14?
    Mine are 10, 7, almost 5 1/2, almost 3 1/2, and 14 month…oh it will be nice when that happens : )

Yes – I keep hearing this from friends with olders! I get a glimpse of it every now and then when the 6 and 3yo get up on their own, do their morning chores and get breakfast for themselves while the baby is still sleeping. I can’t actually *sleep* while they’re making all that racket, lol, but it is a beautiful sound!

We’re so thankful for our older girls….so much in fact, that we lend them out at times to moms with only littles! They love to be a blessing to other families! They bless me daily!

I remember the first time my kids helped me load and unload groceries. What a blessing that milestone was!

I am looking forward to having babysitters also. At the same time, I am thankful that we can’t yet do this, because it means that they are all still young and I know I’ll miss this age someday.

    Hope you are feeling better!

And thanks for the encouragement. We have all been sick here too for the past week and it has been difficult for me to take care of three little ones (4,3, and 1) at varying stages of illness while I am feeling miserable myself.

We’re getting there. I beginning to see little glimpses of this every day :)

At 42 with a 3yr, 23m and 10m old I”ll be in the rest home by the time they’re old enough to ‘babysit’ LOL.

Maybe they’ll have their licenses and can come visit mom on Saturdays!
