Call me lazy, but my excuse is that I’m still recovering from the trauma of losing internet and my hard drive. Everything is back to normal, but I’m still scrambling to make up for lost time.
My Giveaway of the Week required absolutely no preplanning on my part: I’ve told you before about Paperback Swap. Trade books you don’t want, and choose the books you want from any member at all. There are over 2.5 million titles to choose from (including many hardbacks and audio books), and the books are your to keep – unless you choose to swap them again.
They also give free credits for referrals. Each credit = 1 free book, and I get 2 free credits for each new member I refer. New members also get 2 free credits right away when they have listed 10 books available to swap.
So here’s the giveaway.
I’ll split my free referral credits with one new member who joins Paperback Swap through one of my links and list her first 10 books before midnight, Thursday (September 25). If only one person joins, we’ll each get 2 credits and I’ll give one of mine to her. If 5 people join, I’ll get 10 credits and will give 5 of them to one of
the five, randomly chosen.
So you get free books for joining, with a shot at more free books right away. Get it? It’s a free-for-all!
Feel free to leave a comment if you enter, but don’t worry too much this time: PBS will notify me automatically when you have listed your first 10 books, because I will be receiving free credits along with you. Just be sure you enter through one of my links. If you want to be extra safe, put “kittykait” in the referred by field when you fill in the form.
If you’re already a member, you’ll just have to sit on your hands this time – unless you want to chime in about the beauty and wonder of Paperback Swap. How many free books have you received? What was your most exciting find?

I’m new so I can’t chime much, but when someone joined by my referral I only got one credit. I wonder if they changed it and you’re grandfathered in because you joined earlier?
Jeana,
How many credits you receive depends on how many people you have referred. There are 5 levels of rewards:
1. 1 – 10 Referrals = 1 credit for each
2. 11 – 20 Referrals = 1 credit + $0.50 PBS Money for each
3. 21 – 35 Referrals = 1 credit + $0.75 PBS Money for each
4. 36 – 50 Referrals = 1 credit + $1.00 PBS Money for each
5. 51+ Referrals = 2 credits for each
I joined under you a couple weeks ago…does that count?
If you aren’t already a PBS member…consider joining…it really is a lot of fun to get books free in the mail. I was really surprised at how many AND how quickly my initial 10 books were requested. Like I mentioned above I’ve only been a member a few weeks and I’ve already mailed about 6 books and gotten 4 or so in return. If you love books or homeschool this is is great way to get books for pennies!
Hi Kim, I am bestowing an award on your blog, because you are truly inspiring! Come on over to Ship Full O’ Pirates to claim your award. I promise it’s not from Nigeria.
I am such a HUGE fan of Paperback Swap. I just got a brand new HARDCOVER copy of “Same Kind of Different As Me,” which is the best book I’ve read this decade (other than the Bible, of course). I borrowed it from the library the first time I read it (which is good, since I cried on the pages), but I was oh-so thrilled to receive my very own copy so I can share it with my friends.
DANG, GIRL, you got 50 credits already?! Good for you!
I mean, 50 referrals. That’s awesome!
Right: referrals, not credits. We burn up our credits as fast as we earn them. Books are like children: you can never have too many! Unlike children, we have received over 200 free books from PBS. We had to pay for each of our children, though some were cheaper than others.
My best finds have been (at one time even!!), beautiful, hard backed copies, which look they have never even been cracked opened, of both Sense and Sensibility and Emma. I was giddy with my find! We LOVE Paperback Swap! Karen
On the other hand, PBS doesn’t send grandchildren…;-)
My best finds? I have gotten 4 (YES FOUR) Vision Forum CD’s from my wish list. YES! The one about Brothers and Sisters, Suitors…can’t remember the other 2 cause I havent listened yet.
Just last week I got Keepers by Steve (for husbands).
I heart PBS.
I’d like to hear what books y’all like–other than the VF ones, of course.
