Whirly, twirly, girly skirts
We posted a few fun pics of the girls’ new skirts over the weekend, and the unanimous answer was that, yes, you want to know where we got them.

These skirts really are lovely. We are thrilled with the colors, the combinations, the quality of the fabric, and the workmanship. The girls each chose the fabric collection that they wanted, and Marie-Madeline Studio designed the combinations for each skirt. We could have chosen specific fabrics rather than collections, but it was just too hard! Everything was beautiful!
When our package arrived last week, it was just like Christmas. Each skirt was individually wrapped and tied with ribbon. It seemed to us that the fabric of each skirt was chosen especially to complement the coloring and personality of the recipient. Somehow each girl likes her own skirt the very best, and each has the colors that I think she looks best in.
8yo Natalie, who is just beginning to use the sewing machine in our house, examined the underside of her hem and turned to me to with a look of awe: “Mom, they must have practiced for years to make it look this neat and perfect!” I’m sure they did.

The whirly, twirly layers are a definite bonus. The girls have spent most of the last 4 days being dizzy,
dramatic,
and just plain silly.
We attended a wedding on Saturday and the girls all wanted to wear their new skirts. Kaitlyn had requested fabric instead of a finished skirt because she wanted to make something for herself, so she woke up bright and early and got to work on her own, based on an idea that she found at the Marie-Madeline blog.
Deanna will also be making her own skirt, so I’ll nudge her to post photos when she finishes it.

those are so fun!! i think i need some “fun” skirts for my girls after my husbands comment about their church dresses- it was all in fun, but still! if you’re curious enough you can read the little story on my blog.

I have a question…did any of your girls get the 14/16? I would LOVE to have a skirt like that…but I can’t sew and I’m not sure I’m small enough for a 14/16….and they don’t have women’s sizes do they?
(I’m a skinny nineteen-year-old. lol.)

13yo Kaitlyn was very comfortable in Megan’s 10/12, and she thinks the 14/16 would be fine for a slim adult - just give them your waist measurement and be aware of the length.
Cool, I hope she gives detailed instructions as well. Very detailed as I am ‘detailed’ challenged!!
