A Calgon morning

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

It’s been a Calgon morning.  Remember the old commercials?  Calgon, take me away!

I love being part of a busy, full vibrant household, but sometimes I feel a bit smothered when there are 5 or 6 children standing at my elbow, reading over my shoulders and talking to each other or directly into my eardrums.  (Ahem.  ya hear that, girls?  back off, and bring me some form of chocolate…)

I’m just mentioning it lest ye think that I am the all-patient, ever-loving fount of unfailing maternal sweetness.   I’m sending the little beasts little darlings outside to play Lord of the Flies to run and play on our 5 acres for a while.  They need to make some noise that will not land on my eardrums.

    what IS it about today??
I had 2 bound & determined to do me in this morning & left the library trying to figure out how I get my money’s worth (we live out of town & have to pay $35/year..) while never stepping foot in the place again!

    here’s hoping they nap well…….

I’m with ya, my friend. They are all on top of me, and 9 children seems A LOT more than 8.

and people think only a bunch of boys can be beasts!! loud loud girls- I’ve got 4 (and 1 boy) so I can only imagine how loud your home must be!

sometimes working 50 miles from home has it’s advantages…..

    Anyway, Kim…
We had company stay with us for the weekend – a single man in his 60′s who’s never had children. While I have some days like yours (okay, lots of days like yours), sometimes the volume and chatter is most apparent when you’re listening through others’ ears. (And boy, did I feel sorry for that fellow Sunday morning! I’m sure his Sundays are a gazillion times quieter than ours was!)

Here’s to hoping your afternoon has been a bit more peaceful! “Quiet Time” has become a favorite in my house…even the older kids appreciate it now!
    :-) Aaaaahhhh…

Oh goodness! LOL! That is soo true and I only have four… granted they are all boys ages 8 and under… but think of it this way… when it gets quiet.. you know what I mean, too quiet. That is when you know something is up, so I try to remember that when they are all clamoring in my ear!

So true, so true…the part about hearing the noise through others ears. I don’t even think about the noise level a lot, UNTIL I see the look on a visitor’s face! I don’t think we’re that bad for a family of 6, going on 7 – but apparently, to a mother of 2 we can be a bit overwhelming ;)

I also didn’t realize what it is like to talk to me on the phone – until I was out of town and called my husband. Having a conversation? Forget about it!!

I guess this explains why I am rarely on the phone~

I think this has made me understand why my family will not stay with us when they come to town now. My dad is coming this week. The kids asked why Pop is staying at the hotel…well dear, not sure how to break it to you… They did not raise me so they have no clue about kids. After a weekend…give them back…

This makes me feel so much better. thanks

I know, I know. The sheer rambunctious volume of our home (6 kids here, 12 and under) often makes me want to run away. I am the eldest of 2. There was plenty of quiet when I was growing up…

    Oh well. That’s God’s providence for you. :o )

    In Him

Thank you for sharing this Kim. I often find myself putting you on a pedestal of patience. With our 2 children I feel like I “should” be able to handle anything they send my way if you can handle your 9. Thanks for keepin’ it real!
