In the news

Everyone has the election on their mind, but here's what else is new today:
- Mother Hen's latest and greatest idea: Help For Growing Families. It's a Mr. Linky event to share helpful tips for growing families. What do you wish you had known sooner? What did you learn the hard way? I shared my sock system, which happens to be the same system Michelle Duggar uses. Grab the banner, choose an old or new post to share with the world, and link up at Ship Full O' Pirates.

- Our new look. The image for our new header was an outtake from the last time I tried in vain to get everyone to stand in a row and smile. We finally gave up and I snapped a few pics while the kids goofed off. Are you wondering what Becca is doing with her hands? So are we. So is she. She was in her own world.
- 9yo Natalie is making pancakes alone for the first time.

- Lots of new Vision Forum items on our For Sale page, all priced at 50% off or more. I mean less. I mean, discounted at least 50%. How would you say it?
- Puppies. sigh. Our Golden Retriever is in heat. We decided not to have her bred this time, but there has been a big handsome black lab camped out on our deck for days. We locked our dog in her outdoor run for safekeeping and left for the day. When we came home, we found that her suitor had dug a tunnel for her to escape. I'm sure they had a lovely day together. Who wants a puppy?

I love the new header!! If I lived close enough, I’d take a puppy… but alas and oh well, I do not. Enjoy them while you can though!
I just wanted to stop in and say that I love your new header. It is so cute and really shows how crazy and fun life can be with a bunch of kids.
Just wanted to say I love the new header as well! Very creative –
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY LYD!!!!! I’m sorry I didn’t call the other night, its just I had a really bad cold and I couldn’t talk much……maybe I’ll call you tonight!
I’ve been coming here for a couple of years, and I’d just like to say I can’t believe how grownup all of your kids are starting to look!
You have a beautiful family.
Also, I know how you love freebies and so I wanted to let you know that several places are having giveaways for people who voted today.
Starbucks if giving away a free tall coffee, Dairy Queen is giving away free ice cream! Chik-fil-A is giving away free sandwiches or milk shakes! Ben and Jerry’s is giving away free ice cream! Eat ‘n Park is giving away free coffees too! Krispy Kreme is giving away donuts! (Check with your local stores first to see if they are participating.)
That is a wonderful picture. I love that no one looks particularly amused or concerned that one of them is hanging upside down.
I hope the pancakes turn out well!
And how about “everything at least 50% off”? That’s the best I can come up with
I really REALLY want a Golden Retriever. Could you mail one to Missouri? Perhaps make a long, overdue visit to a distant relative in Missouri? No? OK, but I still want one.
Speaking of other things that are new today… how did the gang do with their film-making project? Is it still in the works and shall we see it soon? My kids love to watch your families video clips- especially the silly ones about “the boy” when he was a chunky ball of babiness and the girls would giggle at his every move. MAN, you can tell it has been too long since there was a baby in my house (6 years), but in May we shall all soon be indulged thanks to the Goodness of the Lord.
I absolutely *love* the new picture! It is great! The more children I have, the less hope I have of ever getting a really normal family shot…(sigh).
I would love one of your puppies! I will be needing one around the time she would be deliver, so it would actually be perfect. Please keep me in mind.
Also, I love your new header!
I mean, I will be needing one around the time the puppy is able to leave the Mom, haha. Obviously I would not take one as a newborn!
I didn’t think any picture could top the last header, but this one does. I LOVE IT!!!! It’s zany, it’s whacky, it’s fun…just as I imagine life in such a big, wonderful family would be.
How’d the cupcakes turn out, Chef Natalie?
Cupcakes? Oops. I had a cupcake about 5 minutes ago so it must be on my mind.
Of course I meant how did the PANCAKES turn out, Chef Natalie.
Love your humor about the dog. And no, I don’t want any puppies. Anyone want a pretty beagle?
Luv your header..such a cute moment in time captured! Too funny about the your golden retriever!
Love the new header!
Sheila,
The movie project was cut short when my parents and younger sibs rolled into town several days early, but I’ll nudge the kids to get back on it.
Rachel,
Can I hold you to that? I’m going to save your email addy…
Love the header and my husband says he will drive from Dallas for a puppy if he can have pick of the litter.
Very cute new header! But just how long did they hold that pose? Rachael’s face looks a bit red to me…
Pose? Pose?!
Do you really think we planned that? It’s the sheer, natural everyday craziness that is our family.
I love all the pretty dresses and skirts! I wish those were easy to find.
Love the outtakes. Those always end up being my favorite.
I love your new header! BTW, she is calling a time out, lol.
Becca is calling a time out with her hands, I meant to say.
They do it in football all the time.
um, natalie’s not 9…………..
lauren,
Too funny. You’re right, and you’re the first to catch it. Can I defend myself by saying that Natalie is tall for her age – almost as tall as her 10 and 12yo sisters? And she’ll be 9 in less than 2 months.
Or I could just sew another badge on my Bad Mom vest.
lol, its okay no badge neccessary, i was just thinking how i’ve been reading for several years and your kids are all so grown up now. and i could believe natalie was 9 already
then i remembered she was a millenium baby
i guess its sad that i even picked it up, huh?
LOL no puppies, thanks. You keep ‘em.
