My day started with grand plans – grocery shopping in town, an early end to hubby’s work day, dinner at the home of the W. family, 70 miles away.
And now, here I sit at Vision Forum, waiting for the u-joint in the van to be repaired.
That’s ok. Not my will, but His be done. He’s smarter than I am, anyway. And nicer, too. He could have made me wait on the shoulder of the highway, but instead I’m waiting in the air conditioned warehouse, sitting in hubby’s cushy office chair, using his computer. My grubby boy is playing with popguns and I have 5 other children nearby. I have been greeted by no less than 10 friends and expect to see more before the van is ready.
We might still make it to dinner with our friends, the W. family, or we might have to wait until Sunday to see them. Either way will be fine.
My God is good. I’m glad I’m His.
update: the van was fixed in just over an hour, including the time necessary for the garage to order parts. the cost was far less than we expected, and we were on the road in time to arrive at our friends’ home at 8:00. I’m sure dinner would have been delicious at 6, but the fact that we were starving only made it better.

you were going to the grocery store with 6 kiddos, more power to ya. I don’t like taking even one they always want too much
I love how posative you are! It’s always good to look at the bright side, and praise HIm in everything! Good for you!
maryjo,
I was only taking 3 – hubby took 3 to work today. But I love taking them shopping, especially if I’m not trying to pack too many errands into too little time.
We solved the problem of begging long ago: the rule is, if you ask for anything, the answer will be NO. You may gaze with pleading eyes upon the chocolate-covered donuts while behaving your very best. This is your best shot at scoring a treat.
I, too, love your positivity. You’re very lucky that you have a husband to take care of fixing the car (I’m single and have to do stuff like that myself and I hate it) and of course you know how lucky you are to have all those great kids.
I have a friend who needs to learn from you regarding the begging. She only has one child and tells her 50 times “If you ask for popcorn again there will be no treats tomorrow.”
Of course you can tell the kid is thinking “Yeah right…”
Especially since Dad pops a piece of popcorn in the child’s mouth when Mom is in the kitchen and tells the 4-year old “Don’t rat me out!”
Sigh…how is a kid supposed to learn anything?
Oh man… the best laid plans…
Praise God you’re safe. Hope the van fares well!
LOL! We had a similar day! We all packed into the Suburban to head to a friend’s house and our battery was dead because the alternator is going. We got a jump but it was too risky to drive knowing the alternator can go completely at any second. Our sweet friends ended up picking us up and then lending us their spare Suburban until hubby fixes the part this weekend. God is good!
We, too, take all seven of our children shopping with us! The older ones are a huge help and the younger ones are in training! They all do a great job! However, hubby has taken all of them lately because I am still waiting for morning (all day) sickness to END! UGH!
Kim, your life is never dull, is it? I love your continuously thankful attitude. You are always such an encouragement. I want to let you know that I am sending you the Uber Amazing Blog Award! You can read about it here: http://myblessedhome.wordpress.com/2008/11/08/uber-amazing-blog-award/
I love your blog! God bless,

Kim, I personally allow my kids one treat then when they ask for something else I allow them to trade the original one or keep it. This works great! Of course I only have 2 kids and they usually pick something I would be buying anyway.
Good attitude!
I’m just curious–after all the pre-election posts y’all wrote, are you not going to mention ANYTHING about the outcome?? Something??
Hi!
You don’t need to publish this comment, but I wanted to let you know I gave you an award on my blog! Congrats!
