This post is truly a god send. i have been looking for a new baby carrier but don’t really have the funds to buy one. This is the exact style I was looking for. i am flying to Phoenix with just me and my 5 month old and now I will be able to make one of these slings with a pair of sweats. i figure i can pick up a pair at the thrift store for next to nothing .
    Thank you Susan

I made the lego cake for my son last year. He loved it. It was really cut. And I know “A Garden Girl” and I love her quilt. She did a great job.

I’ve tried the trashcan potatoes. One thing I must advise: use straw or leaves, like the link suggested. You *cannot* use dirt or even peat moss.

Two years in a row, the dirt holds too much water, so the potato roots rot. Thus, no potatoes. Man, it stinks to have such a healthy looking plant on the top and nothing in the barrel. :(

So … it’s one of those things you can have “flop”. I might try again this year, but using straw. The roots just have to be able to dry out….

Oh I love the baby carrier out of sweatpants pattern. We love babywearing and the big kids enjoy wearing the little ones, so it will be handy make a couple of extra carriers.

I made a lego cake once; it was 10 days after my first baby was born so I don’t remember much, but I know I made the cake and frosting from scratch. I think I used oreos for the knobs on top. Easy, cute.
I tried the potatoes in a can last year. It was fun but didn’t produce much; I’m not sure why.
Going to check the other links now.

Unless you have serious wildlife that dig, any significantly-sized pile of dirt (i.e. a 4′x5′x2′ pile) will grow you potatoes. I just add compost to my piles each year and we get great potatoes. Worth a try! Home-grown potatoes are the BEST. :-)

Oh, I made that exact same cake from the link for my son’s first birthday last year — everyone loved it and it turned out nicely. (Well, I didn’t throw it across the floor, at least, so I don’t think it was too difficult at all.) I scattered more of my son’s legos across the table just so that everyone would know for sure that it was, indeed, a lego cake.

Thanks for the links — we grew potatoes in tires last year. I think I’m going to try the bag idea this year!
