In which I FINALLY quit procrastinating

I have had four yards of beautiful fabric sitting in my drawer for several months now waiting to be made into a skirt.  Part of the reason it has taken me so long to use it is because I couldn’t find a pattern I liked, and part was that I didn’t feel like taking the trouble to look for a pattern I really liked. But no more! I have flourished the scissors, floored the pedal, and made myself a lovely wrap-around skirt using the pattern from a dress I made (see top picture). It was really easy to put together, and it is even easier to add button holes to the waistband to make it fit several different sized people.

I love the colors, and I’m so glad that I got polka dots and roses.  I love “crazy gypsy skirts”.

I’m not as tall as the picture makes me look. Kait was kneeling when she took the bottom picture and it makes me look like an Amazon.

  1. You’d make a great amazon. You know, other than the fact that you have sons.

Is this the gypsy skirt that got pooped on?

  2. Very pretty! I love the colors, too!

  3. Deanna, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

Do you have a certain pattern that you used for the dress? We have several in this family who would love to make a skirt just like this! ::smile::

    Lovely, lovely, lovely!

  4. that is SO pretty! Makes me wish I had any idea what to do with a sewing machine!

  5. The fabrics are gorgeous..I reckon I’m gonna have to dust down the old Singer for good now, seeing those made me want to sew so bad: )

  6. I absolutely love the skirt. i am still working on my sewing skills. About all i can make right now are aprons.

  7. Lovely skirt! I love the fabrics you used.

  8. You make me laugh. Thanks for the clarification about you not being an Amazon woman 🙂

  9. Oh! that is beautiful! 🙂 you did a great job! I have an apron I want to make… but I am putting it off because I am not good as sewing and I dont want to mess it up! 😛
Love your skirt! I have a jean skirt that is flowing and big like that that I wear all the time!
The skirt is so pretty and so are you!

  10. Great job Deanna! I love to twirl too, and there’s nothing like a nice full skirt to make it more fun.

  11. I love the skirt.

You are so blessed to have a mother who taught you how to sew! I can hem a skirt and sew on a button, but I was never taught how to really sew a dress. I’m trying to teach myself, but I would love to have someone around to show me the ropes. Go thank your mother for teaching you a skill that will serve you very well in your own household!

  12. You are beautiful and so is your skirt!

    Love ya.

  13. It’s beautiful! I love the colors.

Don't just think it: say it!
