Boys are different: proof #763

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

Yes, I know many of you have far more than 763 pieces of evidence, but bear with me.  I’m a novice when it comes to raising boys.

That’s why he manages to surprise me almost daily, like when he had a splinter last week.

Unlike the girls, he begged me to take it out for him. He’s brave like this with stickers too, but I was still pleasantly surprised at his courage.

But then, just like the girls, I saw fear in his eyes when I approached him.  I didn’t even have a needle with me, since I didn’t know yet how deep it was.  “Oh well,” I thought.  He’s just a little guy.

“No, Mom!  Wait!”  he pleaded.  “You need a knife!”

    Oh how funny! Was he going to go straight to amputation?

    Would it ruin the story to admit that I later learned he just wanted the tweezers out of my Swiss Army knife?

  4. Maranda adds her thoughts::

    LOL the admission makes it even better! I wish my boys were even that brave. They have serious fear in their eyes when I approch them just to look at it.

    hehehe, that was funny and unexpected!

    Too funny :-) I have three nephews and I don’t get many of those kind of exclamations from them. They’re “civilized”. :-)

  7. Emily Darling adds her thoughts::

    I think my daughter has too much testosterone. She insists on digging out her own splinters.

  8. Susan adds her thoughts::

    Vey cute. I have my first little guy after 6 girls and i am constantly telling myself how different they are. He isn’t even a year yet and i can already see the differences.

    i wish mine was like that. he’s petrified of bandaids. all i have to do is take them out of the cupboard – to use on ME no less – and he bursts into tears.

    That was great! :)

    I’m mad at bloglines- it hasn’t been posting your posts, so I’m way behind in reading! Guess I’ll have to stop being lazy & check your blog out by myself.

    Heather,
    That’s strange. I wonder why bloglines isn’t giving you our posts? I wonder if anyone else is having that problem?
    Anyway, I’m glad you stopped in. :)

    [laughing] Well, that wasn’t how I reacted when I had a splinter…

    LOL. Oh yes, boys are sooooo different. People who don’t think they are never raised girls first. I recently did my own post on this.

    My son climbs everything…for the sport of it and takes a bow when he gets up there. NOT KIDDING.

    He also loves dirt and mud and can always find the biggest mess.

    I’m getting nothing from LIAS or from Frugal hacks (on Bloglines). I get my other blogline subscriptions, though…

    Great story!

    This is my first visit to your website. I too have had 7 girls in a row and then a boy and then a girl and the another girl. Yes boys are different. Mine became the “man of the house” at age 8 when his father suddenly died. Yes, boys are different.
