That boy makes us laugh

Vision Forum Deal of the Day: save 40-90%!

Last week, Kaitlyn showed the boy a coin trick.

She started by asking if he wanted to see something cool, and of course he agreed.  She showed him a penny in the palm of her hand.

“Whoa!” he exclaimed.

“No, that’s not the cool part yet.  Watch.”  In the blink of an eye, the penny became a quarter.

Eyes wide with incredulity, he asked her how she did it.

“It’s magic,” she glibly replied.

His face fell and his tone suddenly became serious.  “God said not to do magic.”

    I love this! We recently threw out any and all movies that had magic in them because of this very thing. God’s Word has to be obeyed. No magic, no witches, no sorcery. It is so freeing to not have those around.

    I had my 4 yo boy at the grocery store with me recently and we were purchasing ice cream and topping. I reached for the Magic Shell and he recognized it. He said, “We can’t buy that!!! It’s magic!” I left thankful that Hershey’s makes one that isn’t “magic.”

    Isn’t it wonderful to watch and hear them act on what they are seeing, hearing, and doing at home.

  18. Perry C. adds her thoughts::

    @Jen

    Thanks! As their father I know that my children will be “brainwashed” by somebodies worldview so I’d rather they grow up thinking like me ! :)

    That’s a lot better in my book than having them grow up thinking like, say:

    A hollywood writer
    A Public School teacher
    a movie executive
    a music executive
    Miley, the Jonas brothers, Brittney, Christina (fill in the blank with your favorite pop tart here)

    If I don’t shape the way my kids think, then I’m not doing my job as a parent!

    i love posts that involve “the boy”. :)

    also we wholeheartedly agree with Perry’s comment!!!

    just fyi, one of my boys pointed out today that the notification emails that I get from your blog still say “Life in a shoe: the methods and madness of one mother of 8″. you may already be aware of that. just thought i’d let you know.

  20. Amanda adds her thoughts::

    Good job, guys.
    Perry, well said. What a ridiculous accusation. As if it were a bad thing?!

    As an aside, I feel your pain with pregnancy sickness. I was so excited to try the bean thing but eeee! I can barely get them down. I wonder if there’s a pizza cure. I will voluntarily lay myself down to be a test subject.

    @Perry

    How very offensive. While for the most part, I agree with your comment, I am curious to know why you selected “Public School Teacher” as someone to list. My mother was a public school teacher and is a very good woman. My family was raised going to church and my sister and I were taught good morals and values. While there are quite a few teachers out there who are bad and bad influences, I do not think it is fair or Godly of you to make such a generalization.

    I am very curious to know what in the world could make a school teacher fall into the same category with the others that you listed.

  22. Perry C. adds her thoughts::

    Hi Beth,

    I will try to keep my explanation brief and charitable.

    regardless of your mother’s character the fact that she or any government school teacher is teaching in a government school demonstrates that they have bought the enlightenment lie of neutrality.

    Also government schools are not places that allow teachers to instruct children in “taking every thought captive in obedience to Christ”. The curriculum and the policies are geared toward teaching kids that Christ in irrelevant and certain areas are off limits to Jehovah.

    Finally the very existence to government/public schools are offensive to me because they suggest that the government actually has a moral or constitutional reason for being int eh education business. They don’t. God gave that duty to parents.

  23. Mayflower adds her thoughts::

    I’ve wondered what you call it instead of magic…….sleigh of hand? An illusion? Weird? No, that last one doesn’t cut it.

Why wasn't my comment published?

Go ahead. Make my day.
