I haven’t had a denim skirt in years, and when Caroline of The Modest Mom (formerly The Modest Maternity Shop) offered a free item for review, I jumped on the opportunity, choosing the long ruffle maternity skirt in denim.
Caroline was a delight to work with. When I didn’t fit neatly into a size category, she further customized her custom skirt for me, using the elastic from one size and the cut from another to give me a little extra space without forcing me to wear an oversized skirt.
Her work is neat, the fabric is durable, and the cut is very comfortable. My new skirt has a nice slimming silhouette but plenty of room to move at the lower hem – not always the case in long skirts! The maternity panel is comfy too, with plenty of soft stretch. It was a bit too loose during my first trimester, but is perfect for the second and I feel confident that it will continue to fit for the rest of the pregnancy.
I should add that my web-designer daughter thoroughly approves of The Modest Mom. She says the site is neat, simple and attractive, and easy to navigate. No, my daughter didn’t design the site. She just has a good eye for these things.
Oh, you’re waiting to hear the part about the giveaway, aren’t you?
Caroline has offered to sponsor a giveaway. The winner may choose any skirt, any style, any size, any fabric in the shop. Not pregnant? Not a problem. That’s why it’s now The Modest Mom instead of the The Modest Maternity Shop.
To enter, just visit The Modest Mom and browse the skirt choices. Then come back here and leave a comment telling us which one you’ll choose if you win.
edit: I forgot to add other ways to enter. Blog about the giveaway, share this post on Facebook, or Tweet it for up to 3 add’l chances to enter the giveaway. Please leave a separate comment to let me know about each way you enter.
We’ll take entries until midnight Sunday, Feb. 7 and then we’ll announce a winner on Monday. Or Tuesday. Or as soon as we remember to choose one…

Her skirts look great! I’d take a maternity skirt…probably the a-line in tan.
I’m not pregnant, but I hope to be someday, and since I have to wear a skirt to work a few days a week, a free maternity skirt would be awesome! I’d probably pick the Long A-Line Maternity Skirt, probably in the khaki that’s shown, as it’s really versatile. Thanks!
black and white women’s A line skirt.
Great job with the website, looks beautiful!
Cute! I would love the women’s ruffle skirt, probably in khaki.
I would choose the long ruffle skirt. Thanks for the chance to win!
My SIL is pregnant, and she would look adorable in the calf length with the ruffle (the chocolate brown one). Granted…calf length on her would be floor length..she is only 4’11″!
I’d choose the calf length circular skirt in a dressier fabric for church. All of my maternity “church skirts”are too long for me and it’s getting old.
Her website looks very nice! I’d love to have the women’s long ruffle skirt in denim.
I love the “ready made” Vibrant Summer Maternity skirt. The color is beautful and the style is darling! Very cute skirts. It’s so hard to find anything in maternity anymore that is modest, cute and comfy.
I would choose the women’s a-line ruffle skirt-it’s really cute!
What beautiful skirts!! I would love a long ruffle maternity skirt in denim. Thank you so much for the giveaway!!
I’d pick the Women’s A-Line Skirt in 100% brown floral.
What lovely clothes! I wish I had such beautifully feminine clothes when I was pregnant.
I would definitely pick the Women’s A-Line Skirt in Denim! What beautiful clothes The Modest Mom has! I love all the fabric choices and how they tell you what type of fabric each print is.
I’d want the Calf length skirt with wide circular ruffle. Very pretty. I’ve never had a maternity skirt at all, and toward the end of a pregnancy I’m usually forced to wear dresses that are just plain huge on me everywhere else. Not pretty. Really ought to invest in a maternity wardrobe worth having, given the number of childbearing years I have left.
How awesome to find a modest clothing site! I’d pick a demin skirt with it long enough for my 6’0″ self!

Wow!! the skirts are so pretty!! For me it’s a toss-up between the brown & white cotton long ruffle or the khaki long ruffle…..probably the brown & white…. yep, the brown & white. Oh, and I’m not pregnant right now, so I’ll go with the non-pregnant skirt….
Thanks!
Oh, Kim!!
You are setting a feast of fat things before me! I’ve been browsing this site since the last time you wrote about it…how many months has that been? For some reason, it is so hard for me to spend on maternity clothes, but given the fact that I’ve been pregnant or nursing with only a 4 month break since 2001, maybe it’s time.
Sigh. And smile.
I would choose the calf length skirt with the wide circular ruffle, and it’s a toss-up for me between the red floral (to go with my favorite red shoes!) or the green with tan flowers (to go with the majority of my shirts) or the brown and white (just too cute to pass up). Do you see why I’ve not made any purchases?
Thanks for recommending this site. Maybe someday browsing will turn to buying!
I’d pick the long skirt with a ruffle in a brown with white flowers. I love these skirts, and will certainly be looking here when I need a new skirt.
I love the vibrant red summer skirt. But it’s a maternity one…hmm….I guess we’d have to have another baby so I could wear my skirt!
I’d pick the women’s long ruffle skirt – non pregnant one.
I’m eying the denim skirt… can’t decide if I want below the knee or the long one. And I’m pregnant, so this could be quite useful!
Here is my 2nd entry… posted on my blog.

I like the long ruffle maternity skirt
I also put it on facebook.

I like the vibrant summer maternity skirt. I am going to be pregnant well into the summer, so I can definitely use a good skirt!
Oooooo… I would get the khaki a-line skirt, maternity. : )
What a great resource for maternity skirts (that go below the knee!)
(Kim, maybe you could post a pic modeling the skirt – I’m sure you look adorably pregnant by now! ) ; )
I would choose the maternity long ruffle skirt in denim! I’m not pregnant, but it’s always good to plan for the future, right?
I can’t decide between the A-line maternity and the two with a ruffle. (terrible, I know–but all three are so pretty!!) I’d get it in kahki, probably, or denim. Something that goes with lots of things, as I expect the skirt will get a lot of wear!!
i would love to put a maternity skirt to good use, but until then, I like the red floral ruffle skirt, so pretty!
I facebooked ya!
I like the below knee maternity skirt in denim. At 24 weeks into my first pregnancy, my bottom half clothing options are quite limited.
I really like the Calf Length Ruffle Skirt in Brown Floral, though the A-Line skirts appeal to me, too.
Congrats on your pregnancy!
My favorite is the long A-line skirt!
What a great shop! I love the “Calf Length Ruffle Skirt in Brown Floral Size Small” , I’m almost four months pregnant so it would be great to have a new maternity skirt!
O O O! I bought a khaki calf length ruffle maternity skirt from her store just before Christmas (when you mentioned the free shipping deal she was running), and I love it! I wear it as soon as it’s washed and ironed. I’m pretty sure she got it to me within 3 weeks, despite Christmas and having a baby!
I’d order the calf length ruffle maternity skirt in the brown floral this time. If I don’t win it, I’m pretty sure I’ll buy it for a girlfriend I share maternity clothes with next time she’s in maternity clothes.
I would pick the long ruffle maternity skirt.
I would choose the long ruffle skirt…in either the brown fabric shown or in denim. Actually denim. I love their beautiful skirts and I only own a few skirts and no denim ones among them. Denim works with anything and then I could wear a skirt everyday
I love skirts! Thanks for the chance to enter!!
You do have a problem remembering, don’t you…
You have a good excuse though
I would like the Woman’s A-line skirt. And at these price I’ll definitely be talking to them when I get pregnant next. I can certainly afford *one*
I love the calf length skirt with the circular ruffle. So pretty!! And, I’m almost 20 weeks along with #7… I could use something pretty right now.
)
Pretty!
I think I’d choose the black and white ankle length (non-maternity)
Expecting our third baby in September, and needing skirts for the summer…I would pick the Calf-length with the circle ruffle in the red or brown prints (can’t decide!).
I love the ruffle maternity skirt. That’s the one I would get.The prices are reasonable so if i don’t win I might just buy it for myself.
Oh! This makes me want to get pregnant again, LOL
Calf-length skirt with wide circular ruffle….probably with the brown and white floral.
I would love one of these…though I am not physically pregnant, but adoption pregnant…..don’t I still deserve a maternity skirt
Her prices are excellent for a handmade item! I love the ruffle skirt!
I’d get the a-line maternity skirt in red floral. So cute!
Ooh..they’re all so cute! I’d love the ‘Vibrant summer maternity skirt” that is size L.
Honestly, I would choose the long ruffle denim skirt, too. I like the longer skirt length, and I live in denim!
I love the Ruffle Skirt in Denim 37″ length. It is so hard to find quality modest clothing. It great to have another choice.
Thanks for sharing.

Just posted on my facebook status.
I would take the calf length ruffle maternity skirt in the brown and white floral.
Well, praise the Lord! I have been searching high and low for modest maternity clothes! What a blessing. Things certainly have changed in that dept since I was pg 7.5 years ago! I love the stuff at The Modest Mom! If I won, I would choose the brown floral skirt, although I really want one of each! lol
Ok, it’s on my FB page as well, and I still like the brown floral!
Ok, my blog post can be found here:
http://adorninggrace.blogspot.com/2010/02/modest-maternity-clothing.html
I may just have to go join twitter! lol
I would love the long denim skirt……I don’t find many in my size.
It is so nice to find modest attractive clothing. I don’t spend much time on the internet – a friend sent me this. I am expecting my 6th and I think the long A-line would be so nice!
Thank you for doing this give-away!
Blessings
If I were to win I would choose the Women’s Long Ruffle Skirt probably in the brown floral print. I love these skirts. They are so beautiful and feminine.
Beautiful! I’d LOVE a calf length skirt with wide circular ruffle! They’re amazing!
These are beautiful skirt! I’m expecting and would choose the calf length skirt with the ruffle–in white and red!
I think I would choose the Women’s long ruffle skirt. I just delivered about 3 weeks ago so the non-pregnnant one for now!
In hmmm, red floral or the black and white like someone else said. God Bless you ladies!
I was on her shop a few months ago but simply couldn’t afford to buy one at the time.
I would love to win a brand new skirt to finish out my pregnancy this spring. I have no denim skirt, which are my favorite, so would I love the 100% cotton Long Ruffle Maternity Skirt.
I just shared this on my facebook wall as well.
I also just wrote a small blog post linking back here.
I’d have to pick the calf length skirt with wide circular ruffle–so beautiful! But really, they’re all lovely! Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d have to go with the long ruffled maternity skirt. I love that it’s a slimming line with that cute bit of flare at the end.
Of course, I’ve only got a few weeks left on this pregnancy, so don’t forget to draw names for too long! LOL
Currently, I’m in between babies. I would get the Women’s Long Ruffle Skirt.
I would love the woman’s brown ruffle skirt in brown and white size xs. I also put it on Facebook…
Ohhh those are nice skirts. It was so hard to find any long maternity skirts last year when I was pregnant and the only one I did find wouldn’t stay up because it relied on lycra rather than an elastic tape, I got so fed up with hitching it up all the time that I ended up living in jeans for almost all of my pregnancy.
If I was to choose a skirt I would go for the black and white floral A-line.
Please don’t enter me into your draw though, I live in the UK which would make the postage and packaging expensive, and there are ladies whose need is far greater than mine.
I would choose a women’s long ruffle skirt, in denim or a small print, I really like blue, I just had our 3 baby this week, a boy. The print on the background of this web site would be perfect as it would match my diaper bag. And I don’t think I will have much time for sewing a skirt right now.
Andrea
Calf-length skirt with ruffle. I’m 28 weeks pregnant and in need of new clothes!
I would choose the women’s long ruffle skirt in either khaki or black. So pretty!
Thanks.
Wish I had the need for maternity clothes…But since she makes the other skirt I would choose a women’s long ruffle skirt.
Long ruffle skirt in denim. It’s been so long since I’ve had an attractive denim skirt!!
Posted on Facebook

I like the green a line skirt.
I would probably choose the A-line tan maternity skirt.
I didn’t have any skirts with either one of my 2 pregnancies, because I couldn’t find a nice one.
These look wonderful and well made!
Thank you for your site
wow that is a great site, I wonder if they shipped in Canada and how much it would cost!
I love long skirt, my husband love me wearing long skirt but during pregnancy my normal long skirt don’t fit properly and all we have for maternity store over here is “Motherhood maternity” I can’t shop there, sorry for those who are big fan of it but I seams that I could find lots of club wear maternity style clothing and nothing that will come close to modest mama wear!!!!
This is my third pregnancy (my eldest is not even 3 yet) and I practically have a pregnancy belly all the time so nice, comfortable, modest, durable maternity clothes are a must !!!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful store
I like the a-line maternity skirt. I just switched at the beginning of this pregnancy to being skirts only because they are all that fit! And I’ve been so much more comfortable and I started seeing why my husband kept telling me he thought long skirts are more modest than pants. I am struggling to find decent skirts, maternity or otherwise at a decent price though!
What a great giveaway!
If I won I’d choose the Woman’s Ruffle Skirt in black and white floral.
I like the long ruffle skirt. Thanks for doing this!
Love skirts, I wud go wit the a line.
The calf-length ruffle skirt in black and white.
If I won I would choose Calf length skirt with wide circular ruffle in denim. I am short and too much length would really make me look like a walking napkin. I love the ruffle too. Adds just the right touch of femininity without overdoing it.
I also shared a link to this contest via Facebook
Thanks, great contest!
I’d love to have the long ruffle skirt in denim…non maternity. I LOVED all the skirts, and when I get pregnant again, I will definately be going back to that site to buy, as you can never find modest maternity skirts that “hang” that well!
Thanks for the chance of winning one of her beautiful skirts!
I also shared this on Facebook
I’d pick the ruffle skirt in soft khaki. The brown floral is reall nice, too, it’s hard to pick just one.
i posted about this on my blog
and i posted on facebook, too
I think I’d choose the non-maternity ruffle skirt in brown twill (polyester/cotton mix), but I keep changing my mind because there are so many nice options. At first I thought I’d definitely want the A-line. . . .
Ooooooh! Glad to have seen this. I like the looks of the A-line maternity skirt, either denim or black, not sure which….
The long ruffle skirt is definitly a favorite here.
And cool about the denim.
Blessings.
