We’re raising them to think like entrepreneurs

You probably know the story of Rumpelstiltskin.  When the neck of the miller's daughter is on the line, he appears out of the woodwork and spins straw into gold for her.  The first 2 times, she pays him with jewelry.  The third time, she has nothing left so she promises her firstborn child.

I overheard some of my children discussing this story recently.  They think the miller's daughter was foolish, naive and maybe even lazy.  They think that instead of paying Rumpelstiltskin to do the spinning for her, she should have paid him to teach her to do it.

Good girls.  I hope they always think that way.

  1. I love their way of thinking!!!

  2. Ha! Or maybe a trade of services. I have many talents, but I’m not crafty, at all. Never will be. I don’t sew, knit, crochet, and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t spin even if someone taught me! I’m glad your kids have a can-do attitude. That’s great!

  3. Ha ha!! Good thinking!!

  4. Why just today I was wondering how entrepreneurial your gals are… this put a smile on my face!

  5. very true! My inlaws are home entrepreneur (all 12 children including my husband work at their bakery) and yes our little one will be next in line to work there too!

I love seeing the dynamic of a working family, children helping their Father’s business grow and not someone else that don’t even share their faith!!!
