Duggars in Cincinnati

Four Huge Homeschool Conventions We hear a lot about the Duggars.  When people meet us with our 10 children, there are 2 common responses.  If they know my parents, they ask if we’re trying to “beat” them.  I’m the oldest of 14 children so if it’s a competition, we’re not far behind.

If they don’t know my parents, they want to know if we’re trying to catch up with the Duggars.

We’ve met the Duggars a couple of times, and I don’t want to compete with them.  They are far too sweet and genuine.  I’d rather be on the same side as they are.

If you live near Cincinnati, you may have a chance to meet them too! The Duggar family will be at the 2011 MidWest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati!

Michelle Duggar  will be leading a special workshop session during the day on Saturday, and that evening at 6PM the children will perform.  Then Jim Bob and Michelle will share their testimony & family story. This will be followed by a Question & Answer session, and finally an autograph-session/book-signing.

  1. I already wanted to go to that convention, but because of Tim Hawkins. lol I didn’t even know the Duggars were going to be there. But now I have two reasons to go. :)

  2. Lisa Beth W. says:

I agree with Lisa–it’s probably a stretch to call Michelle America’s most inspiring mother. I’m sure there are many other much less known but equally inspiring mothers in America. I also don’t think it’s wise to pump up an ego like that…pride goes before a fall…

That said, I wouldn’t mind being able to have tea in a small group setting with Michelle just to see what she’s like, but not much chance of that!

  3. I can’t wait til March. This will be our first time going, as a family, to a homeschool convention. I am super excited to hear the Duggars!!!!

  4. I love the Duggars. I really wish I could go!

We have 6 children so far, (ages 8 and under), and ever WE are always getting asked “What, are you trying to be like the Duggars?” I always respond with “I wish!”

  5. Lisa Granger says:

Michelle Duggar seems like a nice person, but to call her America’s “Most Inspiring Mother” is perhaps a bit of a stretch I think…

  6. Oh how awesome! We are only in Columbus so that will be a real treat for us! Thanks for the heads-up!!!?

  7. Michelle Duggar has one of *the* sweetest spirits I have ever ever ever experienced in my life and I’ve only seen her on TV. To be that content and peacefull!

  8. We were actually thinking of going (not too far from us now that we moved to MI) but it is about 2 weeks before my due date! (#7) Well, hubby is an ob/gyn so I should be all set, right? ;)

    • Laura,
I tried to talk my husband into a long road trip when I was very pregnant. My defense was that the other end of our 9 hour drive would put us very near my old midwife, and even if I went into labor on the road we would never be more than 4.5 hours from one midwife or another.
He didn’t buy it, and we stayed home. :)

  9. I just saw that book in the new VF catalog I got yesterday. One of many things I have bookmarked for Christmas presents!

  10. I bought the book after it was available in Germany and I really love it! Very nice written, very interesting!

  11. We get questions about the Duggars a lot too. Last time we went to a restaurant and walked by someone all I could hear of their conversations was, “Have you seen that family the Duggars?” I don’t think it was a coincidence. Wish I were closer to Cinci.

  12. Roxie Meiske says:

I would love to meet the Duggar family. I have read their book, I watch their program, and I read what I can about them. I do admire them very much.
I know from time to time they go to Big Sandy…I have thought of trying to meet them there…Roxie

  13. We love the Duggars!

What a neat opportunity! Too bad we are so far away from Cincinnati!

  14. Sounds lovely! I want ed to buy the book for a while not, but a DVD wow that sure is tempting!!!

Don't just think it: say it!
