Giveaway #4: Your Backyard

I know I say this about every giveaway, but I’m really excited about today’s giveaway.  I consider Mrs. Botkin a dear friend and mentor, and am delighted that she has begun recording audiobooks in her warm, soothing voice.  I have long thought Victoria’s voice was perfectly suited to the task and here at least we have the product of her efforts!

America has a remarkable but largely unknown legacy of courageous, intelligent, Christian women. “Voices from the Past” relates the stories of four of these women in their own words, taken from their letters and diaries. Hear from a brave frontier bride, a visionary colonial daughter, an intrepid immigrant woman, and a wise founding mother, as Victoria Botkin breathes life into the words of real heroines of American history.

Real history, unfiltered by purposely irrelevant textbooks, inspires and fascinates. Read aloud, it becomes accessible to even young children. Enhanced with sound effects and period music.

The Giveaway

This time we get to choose not one, but four winners!  Each winner will receive the title of her choice on CD.  We’re currently listening to A Bride Goes West. Which one would you choose?

Standard giveaway rules:

  1. For your first entry, visit the sponsor’s site, then come back and tell me what you think. Be honest and original.  By original, I mean say something more descriptive than, “Nice site.”  You’ll have to, because if you say that my spam filter will shoot on site.  By honest, I mean say something nice.  If you don’t like the site, then you don’t want to enter the giveaway so you don’t need to comment.  Right?  Right.
  2. For up to 3 extra entries, post about this giveaway on your blog, Facebook, and Twitter. Please be a friend and make my life easy by leaving a separate comment here for each time that you share about the giveaway.
  3. I’ll take entries on this giveaway for 7 days, then I will choose a random winner. If I procrastinate and/or forget to choose the winner, I will eventually choose the winner from among those entries that were submitted within the first 7 days.  Deal?

  10. I shared on Facebook.

  11. I like the relevant articles on the site, but I wish it was a little easier to navigate. It could use a list of articles by topic, or a search functionality.

  12. We would love to win A Bride Goes West! Thank you so much for this give-away.

The very best thing about the Botkin’s site is their hard-hitting articles. We have learned so much from them. They have truly been a blessing to our family!!!!

  13. I had never been to the Botkin’s site before, but it is a place I see myself spending quite a bit of time at in the near future!

  14. Right now I am trying to figure out a way to win four times so I can have all of them.

On second thought, that would be a little selfish, wouldn’t it? Haha!

Best thing about the site? The soothing graphics and design layout, hands down. It’s so refreshing after browsing pages of stark white Google. Which would I choose? I’d want the letters of Abigail Adams. Pleeese!

  15. My family has one of the Botkin’s well done DVDs, homeschool dropouts, and it is excelent. Their website, I must say is just as well done as well.
I would be delighted to enter for any of the CDs. I am sure that they are wonderful!
Thank you so much for hosting this giveaway!

  16. I love the way they write about the different women. It really makes me want to buy the CDs.

  17. I am really excited about this one! Even if I don’t win I may have to save up the money to buy these!

  18. What a fascinating site! The article about our revisionist history was interesting and kind of scary, and is just another confirmation that our small children need to be homeschooled. Abigail Adams’ letters intrigue me. The Botkin site is now on my bookmarks as a homeschooling resource.

  19. Sharing on Facebook!

  20. I sure hope I win this! I have wanted to buy anything on audio by Victoria Botkin but have not had the funds to do so.

  21. Abigail Adams letters sound intriging!

  22. Very well done website! I especially like the sounds of “An English Family in the American Wilderness.” I enjoy listening to audio books while I work on projects around the house. 🙂

  23. Denise Wilson says:

Wow! Thank you for introducing my family to another valuable resource! I love history, and I hope to instill that love in my children. This site will be bookmarked for sure! 🙂

Would love to win one of these audiobooks!

  24. Barbara G. says:

  25. And my posts automatically get posted to my Facebook!

  26. I love Victoria Botkin…my older daughters and I did her mentoring study in the spring.

I would love to win any of these but if I had to choose just one I would choose “A Bride Goes West.”

    I have blogged about it!

  27. Pringles Palo says:

i think it’s great to teach kids analyze events on their own on a biblical concept – not just accept every other textbook taught in school. history is a subject that some finds as boring that is why digging in deeper into each event finds meaning and fulfillment.
i choose “A Bride Goes West”

  28. Anything the Botkin family does is always fantastic… and feel that Mr. and Mrs. Botkin are mentors to us. I would LOVE to win any of these recordings!

  29. jamie lyerla says:

I really have learned a lot from the Botkins. These new cds look great. How enjoyable to listen as a family.

  30. I’ve loved A Bride Goes West since I studied in in college. It is neat to see it being widely read (or listened to!).

  31. I love the Botkins’ site! And we’ve been considering getting these, mostly for when my younger siblings will be doing American history…

  32. pringlespalo says:

the site is of my interest because of its goal to let people realize that history has biblical sources where we should analyze ourselves and not just believe on all textbooks that we read. this is an eye-opener, and i would really love to hear out the audio books. kindly have me entered.

  34. WOW! This is so hard to choose!! I love history, particularly the revolutionary war period, so I would have to choose the Letters of Abigail Adams. Her personal letters have always been something I wanted to read/listen to so I would LOVE to win that one! I hope Mrs. Botkin decides to do more!

  35. We would LOVE to win these audio books- we’ve already been considering buying them. Our family has been blessed by the Botkin family, even though we’ve never met. I know that my dds would enjoy listening to these books!

  36. I just favorited this site so I can read through all the articles! I have no idea which one of the cd’s I’d choose since I’d love to have all of them. I’m always looking for uplifting things for my daughter to listen to. My 13 year old daughter is dyslexic, so audio books play a large part in our homeschooling..

Don't just think it: say it!
