Ack! Why didn’t anybody tell me?

Current giveaway: The Last Pilgrims book: ends 2/23

I feel like I just spent 3 days with my skirt tucked into my underwear.  I’ve been working behind the scenes on a new look, a makeover for our blog, using this really cool plugin that lets you test-drive a theme.

This nifty little piece of software lets me see and use my blog with its new look, ironing out all the wrinkles and making it look just the way I want, while the unsuspecting world sees nothing but the old look.  Cool, huh?

You weren’t supposed to see anything new.  You weren’t supposed to see stuff in the sidebars appear and disappear.  You weren’t supposed to see the entire blog accidentally turn into italics and stay that way for a whole day and a night.  You weren’t supposed to see the posts switch to excerpts instead of full content.  Don’t worry – I hate that.  Unless a bunch of people loudly disagree, that feature is *not* staying.  I don’t even know how it happened. It didn’t do that in the new theme.

What else did you see?  Maybe I shouldn’t ask.

Next time, y’all please tell me my skirt is tucked into my underwear.  Okay?

    Fix it already! I wanna see the new stuff! :D

  2. Lauren adds her thoughts::

    Haha, I didn’t see any of that.

    Told you so.

  4. ShellySinWI adds her thoughts::

    Guess that’s one of the benefits of reading in Google Reader! Never noticed anything.

    PS Count me in the “hate excerpts” group! Short feeds also drive me bonkers! :)

  5. Irene adds her thoughts::

    Haha ….I did notice a few things different, but I didn’t pay much attention.
    I had to laugh at your skirt story…it reminds me of the time my 15 year old daughter had her skirt fall around her ankles when she walked into church. THANKFULLY we were really early and I don’t think anyone noticed!
    I love it when Perry comments on your posts…his comments make me laugh. He reminds me of my husband.

  6. Dawn adds her thoughts::

    The site has changed on me, it’s in mobile view on the iPad now, so I can no longer see what your lovely blog looks like :-/

  7. Anita Chamblee adds her thoughts::

    I hate the excerpts as well!! Folks with slow internet can’t sit there and wait to see the rest of the story.

  8. Shiloh adds her thoughts::

    I didn’t see anything! :)

    Oh and if I may ask, what is the software called that you are using?

  9. Homeschool on the Croft adds her thoughts::

    Yep, I hate the excerpts too…. Give me the whole lot in a one-er :)

  10. Melanie adds her thoughts::

    I read on my iPhone, so I didn’t see anything different at all. However, I will say that I hate the excerpts too! I get one blog notification that way & oftentimes I don’t click through to read the whole thing & end up w/ a virtual stack that needs to be read….are you listening Kelly @ GC? ;)

  11. Hilary adds her thoughts::

    I noticed (and read!) your new “About the Mom” section, but didn’t realize it wasn’t supposed to be there yet – it looked very “finished” to me! :-)

    • kimc adds her thoughts::

      Hilary, actually that has been there for a while, but the only way to find it was through the About page. My tinkering around must have created a more obvious link at some point.
      Since you found it, what did you think?

      • Hilary adds her thoughts::

        Yes – one day there was a direct link to it on the side bar – it showed as part of a hierarchy under “About”. I liked it – thought it was interesting and amusing!

  12. Becky adds her thoughts::

    I didn’t see any changes but I cant wait to see all your hard work. Thanks for not going to the short excerpts. I hate those, too.

Why wasn't my comment published?

Go ahead. Make my day.
