This week I’m cheating.  Since we don’t have any new videos of our own, I’m going to share one from the other side of the world.

Today I was at a baby shower and caught Parker eyeing the table that held the cakes and cupcakes.  When his hand went to the tablecloth, I jumped and grabbed him.  The kids in the video below may speak another language, but I think you’ll understand what’s going on and why I thought of them.

The last one is where the action really happens, but don’t skip ahead.  For the very best effect, you must watch them in order.  They’re short, and it’s worth the time.  Trust me.  You’ll understand.

Oops. Let’s try that again.

They must have a really cool mom to let them try it a third time – or else they spend way too much time alone.

While it’s tempting to fear the worst , let’s keep in mind their parents did show this to the world.  Surely the lad lived to tell the tale.

I do have confess it’s a little disconcerting that there’s no Teil 5, though.

Have you ever tried this trick?  Have you let your kids?  Bonus points if you have it on video!

  1. Lol. Thanks for the laugh!

  2. oh. my. word. LOL.
my son thinks this was staged. watch it again and watch Michel closely… what do you think???

  3. Oh my! My kids are rolling, with a warning to not to try this at home! Thanks for the laugh, Monday needs it!

  4. I am pretty sure it was staged too. But funny! Kudos to a couple of creative boys!

And yeah, I think every child of the late 80′s/early 90′s who watched too many episodes of Mr. Wizards world figured out how to do the tablecloth trick :)

  5. Wow…If that was staged they’re pretty stupid. It looked painful!

  6. That had to be staged…right? Because what cabinet would fall over from barely being bumped. Right? Maybe Teil 5 was a trip in the ambulance.

  7. Wow…HUGE family debate going on because of this one! If anyone knows the back-story, we’d love to know it!

Thanks for sharing – it was good for a big gasp anytime someone new in the household saw it! :-D

    • I don’t know if it was staged, but our girls think the little guy falls the way he does because his big brother accidentally hit him in the groin. That much seems clear, though it could also be part of the act.

  8. I have tears running down my cheeks.

  9. Oh my goodness! :-0 I totally gasped at the last one. I hope he’s ok…lol. yikes!

  10. Oh gosh! I hope it was staged, but I will tell you with the cabinet falling down it so reminded me of the terrible loss of Tiggy at RoscommonAcres. Oh how I have cried for that child, family and mother only by reading their story. I have no other connection to them.

  11. I heard that this was staged and was advertising a circus (kinda) company/stage thing in Germany called Stop the Show (Translated title) Don’t know for sure though. *shrugs* :)
