Swagbucks

Free nursing cover, carseat cover, sling, and more!: Just pay shipping

SwagBucks Bnr Jpay SwagbucksIt’s been a while since I talked about Swagbucks, so it’s time for another nudge.   If you’re looking for a way to earn a little money online, this one really works.  You won’t get rich on it, but it takes no effort at all to pick up a $5 Amazon gift card every now and then, doing what you already do.  Over the past 2 years, we have earned thousands of dollars in Amazon gift cards.  There are plenty of other rewards to choose from but – math nerd that I am – I did the numbers and the Amazon and Southwest Airlines gift cards give the most bang for your s’bucks.

There are lots of easy ways to earn swagbucks:

  1. Anytime you would use google.com for a search, use swagbucks.com instead.  You won’t earn points every single time, but you’ll get them regularly and they add up!
  2. Install the toolbar, or set swagbucks as your primary search engine so that you can just type your search terms into the web address area of your browser.
  3. If you did #2 above, now you can type in the name of a site you want to visit and swagbucks will search it for you.  You might earn points just doing your regular web reading.
  4. If you like to shop online, check their list of major merchants and you might earn points by making your purchase through their link at the store where you would have shopped anyway, like iTunes, Target, Walmart, Kohl’s, and tons of others.
  5. Earn swagbucks when you print coupons to redeem in your local grocery store.

Depending on how much time you have and how badly you want to earn money, there are lots of other ways to earn.  Some will fit more naturally into your day and online habits than others.  Find what works for you!

Your own online activity can provide some $5 cards, but if you tell your friends about it, you might find that you can pick up a $50 Amazon card every now and then.  We have redeemed a total of 238 prizes so far, nearly all of them either $5 or $50 Amazon cards.  Two years ago, Swagbucks almost entirely funded Christmas for our household.  Since then, it has kept us in diapers – well, those of us who need diapers – and paid for our exercise equipment and other Amazon incidentals.

Do you already use Swagbucks?  What are your favorite ways to earn?

  1. You already know I tried swagbucks, became increasingly frustrated, and left. But I am glad that it’s working for you, and hope that you continue to enjoy your rewards. My favorite way to earn was to click on the “trusted surveys” and then leave. One buck every time. Just don’t try to take the actual surveys! :-)

  2. I currently have enough swagbucks for 4 $5 amazon cards, and I’m almost up to getting a fifth. We did the math and it’s cheaper, point-wise, to buy the $5 cards than the higher denomination ones.

So, do you guys all share one account and search on it on everybody’s computers, or do you all have different accounts? It’s taken me a year to get this many points.

    • Perry and I have separate accounts, but I think we only really use one. We didn’t earn all of our points ourselves; you can also get points by referring other members – that’s part of the reason I posted about it!

  3. Unfortunately I just don’t seem to make it work. I’m very glad you do. Because I’m in the UK it doesn’t allow many of the ways to get those swagbucks and the codes are inevitably at the wrong time – however when I first set up an account I did make sure you got the credit :) if any other English users have tips I’d love to hear them….

  4. I use swagbucks in the UK and I’ve been saving up since last Christmas (well, i’ve spent some) and i’ve got about £40 to go towards buying christmas presents on amazon this year (even better since baby is due early Dec, so online shopping will be the way to go!)

I do get annoyed that I miss a lot of the codes cos i’m in bed, but I try to go on a few times in the day, and hopefully win some bucks for searching. With that along with the bucks from a couple of referrals it does add up. Nowhere near what Kim’s made, but every little helps!

  5. I love swagbucks!! We have earned a couple hundred dollars worth of things and amazon gift cards in the 2 years we have been members of it. I am pretty bummed that a few of my friends have joined but never used me as a referral…so I don’t get the referral points. 2 things: I am under the impression that there is only one account allowed per household or you can lose your swagbucks account and isn’t there a limit on how much you can earn in prizes before having to pay taxes? I think it’s $500.00. Anyone know? I just used a bunch of my bucks to pay for our 3 year old birthday!!

  6. They recently changed the system so now they say you can have multiple accounts in a household, but each account should only really be used by one person. I think that’s how it is now. Might be worth checking out.
