Since I have fallen off the blogging wagon – is it just me, or does that seem to happen every December? – I’ll share today’s To Do List here instead, in the hopes that I’ll somehow feel more accountable to actually do the stuff after announcing it to the People of the Internet.
Mom’s To Do List 12/14
Assemble 4 orders for Geneva Bible Pages so they can ship tomorrow.Done! Just added single bookmarks to our Geneva Bible Page shop on Etsy. Now there’s a choice that is less than $10 with free shipping!Make some Mounds and Almond Joy bars. Done, with lots of changes. I took the suggestion of a commentor on Lynn’s post, and baked it with a shortbread base.Try Tammy’s Chewy Granola Bars recipe. Done exactly as directed, and cooling on a rack.- Fix the shadecloth over the deck, which tore loose last night and had to be temporarily tied down to keep it from breaking the windows as it flapped in the wind.
- Figure out what’s for dinner, and start it sooner than 8 PM now that Perry is back on 1st shift and will know if we don’t eat before 9 o’clock. :)
- Write my 4 Moms post for tomorrow.
Wash a mountain of dishes, since all my big girls are gone today and we didn’t do dishes last night. Done, for the moment. There will be a new mountain soon enough.Make homemade Nestle Crunch for the 5th time in the last 2 weeks.Done, and this time on impulse I made an add’l batch with – brace yourself – bacon bits. What do you think?- Kiss my Hunney. Are you kidding? This isn’t getting crossed off no matter how many times I do it.
- Finish my To Do list. OK, I’m kidding. My list never ends. I just remember more things and make it a little farther down some days than others.

I don’t see my kiss on that list
It’s on the list now, but I’ll have to wait a bit to do it unless you’re coming home early tonight…
Now how’s that for a “add things to the ToDo list just so you can scratch em off” item? (“Finish to do list”)!
I hope you enjoy the mounds bars. I won’t admit how many I ate last time I made them.
Ooo….yummy goodies. Will have to try them…especially the Mounds! Mmmm.
I just added more work to your todo list. I just ordered the last 3 of the Bible book marks. They will be wonderful gifts for some great friends this year. Thanks. Roxie
Thank you, Roxie! I’ll have to make some more and restock.
What do I think? I think you must be pregnant again! WHY else would you mix bacon bits with chocolate and rice krispies? Either strange craving, or pregnancy brain (grabbed the bag of bacon bits instead of krispies). Those don’t even sound remotely appealing to me – but I certainly hope y’all enjoy them
Justine,
Have you totally missed the chocolate & bacon craze that is sweeping the country? Chocolate-dipped-bacon-on-a-stick was the hottest thing going at state and county fairs! We’re late on the bandwagon, but Perry put me up to it and most of the bacon lovers in our family raved about the combo. Think about it: sweet, salty, crispy, chewy…it has everything, if you can just stop thinking about the oddness of the combination for a second.
I keep thinking about the crunch bars with bacon since I first read about you making them. How were they? How much bacon bits did you add?
Lynda, they were a huge hit! The kids are still talking about them!
I’m liking them and I haven’t even tasted them each yet. How much bacon did you add?
Lynda, I didn’t measure so I don’t remember. I think we used equal amounts of melted chocolate chips and rice crispy cereal, which resulted in a higher proportion of crunch than Nestle Crunch bars. Then we just stirred in whatever [real] bacon bits we had on hand – maybe 1/4 as much as the chocolate or cereal? I wouldn’t worry too much about the proportions. You really can’t go wrong with bacon.
