27 weeks: Third trimester, here we come! {pregnancy update}

The last week was hugely busy, and I feel like I should be exhausted.  I probably look exhausted, but I feel like I’m running on a combination of caffeine, adrenaline and French cooking.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I need to piece together a recap of my week from my Facebook updates.

I can’t believe we’re beginning our 3rd trimester already!  It’s exciting but also a bit scary to know that the end is growing close.  Three months sounds like a long time, but 13 weeks – 13 times to church – 13 Friday nights – sounds like so very little time!

Since we learned the baby’s gender last week, we have begun negotiations for naming.  Since I have yet to finish my account of the ultrasound, I can’t really share our top picks or ask for your input.  Next on my to-do list: finish that post.  I really didn’t mean to leave you hanging, but sometimes life happens and daily schedules just don’t go according to plan.

Belly pic:

I’m still taking my weekly belly pic in the same dress, as planned, but I’m beginning to wonder how it will hold up over the remaining 13 weeks.  It’s not quite as roomy as I imagined, and Baby and I have a lot of growing to do still.  Think I don’t look big here?  This pic was taken first thing in the morning, while gravity was still on my side.  Try waiting until mid-afternoon; then look down from above, like I do.  Trust me; it’s big.  I’m still measuring 2-3 cm. big for this stage, as I have all along.

6 months with #11!

Baby at 27 weeks:

  • Baby weighs almost 2 pounds now and is about 14.5 inches long.
  • Baby now has eyebrows and eyelashes and hair.
  • Eyes can blink, open and close, and baby may turn his or her head if you shine a flashlight against your belly.
  • more

It didn’t happen.  I walked once or twice early in the week, 2 miles at a time with a 5 lb weight in each hand.  After that, I simply didn’t have time.  It was a crazy week.  I was strangely satisfied by the fact that I woke each morning to aches in my legs and torso that took hours to dissipate.  I think my body has become accustomed to the exercise, and depends on it to work out the stiffness and aches that accumulate during the night.

Your turn:

Want to share your own update?  I’d love to hear it!

Previous pregnancy updates:

  1. I think you still look fabulous! My babies have both been big (ds1 10lb 10oz, ds2 9lb 5oz), so my sense of belly size may be off a bit 🙂

My pregnancy update is that I’m pregnant! I had a due date around the same as yours, but I unfortunately lost that baby in March. Now, I’m pregnant again and hoping it sticks! I’m only 5 wks at this point, so I’m starting to notice pregnancy symptoms and keeping an “eagle eye” out to make sure they stick around.

I am due near the same time you are. I turned 29 weeks yesterday.
We currently have 8 girls and 1 boy and guess what this one is?????????????
YEP! Another little bundle of PINK!
I’m feeling great, but fat. I didn’t lose my baby weight from my last 2… but then again, I’ve never been thin. 🙂
This Texas heat is totally getting to me! I’m DONE with summer already!

Oh, I totally thought it was neat how you said “13 more time to church” “13 more Fridays”. Wow! My last baby was 2 weeks early on his own (I like to think it was God having mercy on me… hee, hee…) so I don’t have too long to go!

Hugs to you, fellow pregnant mama,
    Janet… mamachildress

  3. 38 weeks here, and praying for patience! I’m at that point where I’m too tired and sore to do a whole lot (and everything is already ready already!) – so I’m bored as a result. Which makes the waiting worse. So I’m making far too many trips to the thrift store to shop. 🙂

    • Carrie, you’re in the home stretch! I understand the boredom problem. I like to purposely schedule fun things before and soon after my due date. That way even if the baby arrives late, I either have something fun to do, or I’m holding a baby – it’s a win, win situation. 🙂

  4. Aileen Johnston says:

Kim every week I am in awe at how ace you look! By week 27 I think I looked like a beached whale and it just got worse! My update this week is that my gorgeous baby girl is finally here! She was 5 days overdue but for a first baby quite a quick labour at just over 10 hrs. I managed to do everything naturally until right at the end and ended up having a spinal which was amazing and a forceps delivery but I can cope with that!! Her name is Amy andher daddy and I are just besotted with her!

As always looking forward to next weeks update and I wouldnt worry about the lack of exercise, I think with alll therunning around that you do, you probably do a lot more exercise than you think!

  5. Thank you so much for hiding the answer in a previous post. I was able to find it very quickly and so no one is really left hanging if they will go look! 🙂

Glad you feel so good after a busy week. Looking forward to hearing more about the conference! Blessings,

Last week I was ready for baby to come (38 wks tomorrow) but after the weekend slowed down it seems I can wait a few more days (or weeks).
For at least a month now I’ve been having people tell me I’m huge or you’re about to pop (and you know it is bad when even your father-in-law makes a comment- though it was a nicer one). But my baby is measuring on the small side and I haven’t gained the weight that I probably should have so it is very disconcerting.
Can’t wait to hear some of the names you have picked out. Maybe it will give me some inspiration!

  7. If your baby is a boy do you mean to do the P C trend going?

Don't just think it: say it!
