Awkward moments in my day

Do you ever feel this way?  I do every time I sit down at the computer.  Or on the couch.  Or in the bathroom.  The guilt: it never ends.

  1. That was funny. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Have I ever felt this way? Might be easier to ask which days I don’t feel this way. It would be a much shorter answer. Ha ha. This is why I have become dependent on my calendar and list. I tell everyone, “if I don’t put it on my calendar, it is not going to happen”. I have far too much on my plate (not overscheduling, necessity) to try and keep it all in my mind like I did when I was single. Well, that and I am no longer 20.

  3. Hahaha! I feel this way every day! With each new child I’ve become more and more forgetful. Too many important things to think about! Such as, whether I changed the baby or fed the kids their snack or got the water they asked for ten minutes ago. Sometimes I ask my five-year-old daughter to remind me of things I’ve said I’ll do if she wants me to do them, because otherwise I will probably forget.

  4. Ask the Lord to remind you of anything you REALLY need to do and let the rest of it go. I think sometimes we have too high expectations of ourselves and that stress makes it hard to remember everything we feel we need to do. It can also paralyze us into not doing things. Guilt is a form of condemnation and is not useful. Instead pursue the Lord (something I know from your blog you already do diligently) and let him guide you into what you need to do or change. From him you will not receive guilt but encouragement. Checking off “To Do” lists might make us feel productive but when we do things out of relationship (both with Jesus and our family) the work is light and fun. Rely on him to show you what is important instead of relying on yourself and your “To Do” list. You will get far more done that way since his yoke is light. We are the ones who put the heavy burden on ourselsves when he really wants to lighten the load for us if we’ll let him. I’m saying this just as much for my benefit as anyone elses since this is one of my struggles.

  5. Have I ever felt this way? Every day……I do!!

Don't just think it: say it!
