The meaning of life

Do you ever ask yourself why you are here?  What is the meaning of life?  If you believe the Bible, you should know that you were created in the image of God for His glory, with a soul that will last forever.  God knew you before He made the world, because you are part of His eternal plan.

If you believe in evolution, you probably don’t have an answer.  But take heart.  After all, you’ve got thumbs.  That makes you special, right?

  1. Lol, thats kinda funny. I believe in evolution, and it is a bit less simplistic than it was shown in the video but its certainly entertaining and I am the kind of person who can laugh at herself. I think I need to be, not many non religious people have families as big as I do, so Im used to it. Seriously, Christians have the best resources on large families, and this blog is extra useful because we have nearly the same number of kids (and a majority of them are girls too), so I do find it interesting to hear your perspective on things, cause we arent so different! Admittedly, I like answering the 4 Moms questions for myself, and thinking how I would handle things.

I dont quite have an answer to the meaning of life, not for everyone anyway. I think its something that people decide for themselves, and that life is what you make of it. Some people choose to follow a religion and the meaning of life that it says, like how your religion teaches you that your calling in life is to have as many children as God gives you and raise them well (which is perfectly reasonable and it is good to be dedicated to your children’s lives) and also be a good Christian, others have goals they have set for themselves, like to get good at a certain skill, accomplish certain goals. I dont have a problem with it, as long as it is moral (not harming other people or deliberately making other people sad and trying to be a good person).

For me, my goal in life is similar to yours, despite our wildly different cultures. I have 9 kids and my job in life is to help them grow up to be healthy, happy and productive human beings, whatever path life takes them on. I give them the resources they need to make the right decisions, like making sure I set a good example when it comes to how I treat other people, teaching them about the world and the wide variety of people in it and teaching them how to avoid dangerous situations. I dont mind if they dont want to be just like me though, several of my kids believe in God, and one of them is a Christian.

Totally special cause I have thumbs as well, lol :P

  2. I shared this with my girls when you posted it. Then today we were working on our human body unit and we were doing some activities with our thumbs taped down to our hands to show how much harder it would be without them. My oldest, 13, started singing the line about thumbs from the video. We all had a good laugh about our “special” thumbs. It was so funny. Seriously we discussed how wonderful our bodies are and how we don’t understand how anyone could not believe in a creator! Thanks for sharing!

  3. HAHAHAHAHA!! I’m definitely sharing this with my kids! Thanks for posting it.

I’m sure I will always be looking at my thumbs differently now….yeah…..

    HA.
